That's just laughable. If the two minute pre roll ad wasn't enough, now the free users will only pay an hour at a time five times a month. The free users would be better off buying a second hand console and some games for unlimited perpetual use.

I thought next gen was going to be just a OEM version of an Xbox that can also play pc games from Steam/Epic/GOG. But M$ is possibly throwing in the towel before the next gen. WOW.

Can’t wait to watch gamepass be $60-$80 in a few years and then consumer numbers collapse. If that happens, can’t wait to watch that bloodbath.

I hope their jobs aren't just to drum up his game score. Maybe it's just a shared account for some employees who take turns playing different games.

I love our federal government. I am having buyer's remorse from my previous declarations that this Activision merger would be beneficial for Xbox's consumer base.

Damn we went from Game Pass price increase to Xbox actually dying in the span of a few days. Brutal.
 
With any luck every Xbox-playing jackass who mocked or disagreed with the Stop Killing Games initiative because "lol that'll never happen to me!" gets to enjoy Microsoft's record-breaking server shutdown pace once they finally do admit they're closing up shop and bailing on the gaming market.

I have more gamerscore than Phil Spencer. By Reddit standards, I'm a gaming god I suppose.
 
So, okay, let's assume this is a planned demolition of the XBox hardware by someone in the company, wanting to get out of console manufacturing and focusing solely on being a publisher.

What does that leave Microsoft with exactly? They have a grand total of one competent developer, id, in a sea of incompetent has-beens that only still exist because of MS gibsmedat, and would shut down within a year if they were forced to make an actually profitable product.

Call of Duty is collapsing in popularity and Bethesda is awash in Indian elite human capital, with TES VI still years away and a permanently damaged reputation, with no signs they're steering the ship around.

Blizzard has now been a joke for far longer than it has been good, and is so completely humiliated in every aspect they had to walk back on their Overwatch virtue signalling by hiring Korean artists to draw goon art of their characters and have been forced to release revealing skins, and even the nobody cared.

If Jeetsoft hopes to make the billions they've burned back by selling games, they're in for a very rude awakening. I can't even recall the last time they released something that wasn't met with a collective "meh" by everyone in gaming.
