I think wrestling was at its best and most profitable when the lines were blurred in treating wrestling like a sport. Everyone knows its fake except really young kids and fans in 3rd world shitholes (India), but there's still merit in guys reaching the top with their efforts being rewarded. The sports comparison could be that the wrestler you like will get to the top as long as he's entertaining, putting on great matches, etc... whereas if you're a Buffalo Bills fan, you're only stuck chasing the reward knowing you'll probably never see it in your life.

Wrestling is slowly dying similar to all sports because sports have been the driving force keeping cable/satellite absurdly profitable since the 80s, as TV has been slowly dying over the past 15 years.

But whatever, Paul Dave Pigroach likes sweaty gay gacha ack ack ack snort.
Not only that, but we used to have larger than life characters. We had a repo man, some orange guy telling us to say our prayers and take our vitamins, an undead guy and his shrill urn carrier... Could you imagine trying to introduce The Undertaker in 2010 exactly as he came into the wwf/wwe? It would NEVER take off.

Nowadays, we just have "regular" looking people (save for a few wack jobs like Bray Wyatt) wearing underwear and rubbing dicks... Oh, I see why Phil likes this stuff.

Prowrestling has always seemed very odd and boring to me. I think sports is generally falling out of favor with the younger crowd as they're pulled in different directions with all the newer distractions such as vidya games and streamwhoring. It may stick around as a big thing but it is no longer the top 'thing'. Most of the guys I know who are really into sports (as in the traditional sit around watching a rich professional team, actually participating in a sport is an entirely different matter) skew older and the younger guys who are in it aren't in it as much, ie they become more like typical women sports fans. Leading the charge into irrelevance are the weird niche 'sports' like prowrassling. I dunno does anybody else notice these patterns?
The best way I've heard Pro Wrestling, and what it was when it was at its peak, was 'soap operas for men'

Big, over the top, stupid feuds, betrayals, drama, that kinda shit.

Honestly, they'd probably do a lot better if they just said 'fuck it' to this 'sports entertainment' angle, and just embraced the wackadoo cartoon bullshit.

In theory the Undertaker should never have taken off, a massive part of wrestling is being able to cut a promo and sell offence, but he did neither. But the lack of wacky characters is more down to audience's tastes changing.

Most gimmicks nowadays are "grew up watching wrestling and thinking Shawn Michaels was pretty neat".

Yeah there is one dude in the WWE that looks like he should be delivering pizzas, not "fighting".

I think that is what appealing about it. If one wanted to watch a serious fighting sport then there is Boxing, MMA and so on.
WWE is supposed to be over the top and fun with colorful characters throwing each other around.

I see alotta people are talking about how wrestling is all about characters and story.

Phil specifically said that there are so many shows going on that he does not follow the stories.

If he loves watching "soap opera for men" but doesn't pay attention to the plotlines, he has admitted he just watches it for the men.

In terms of just being really into something and setting aside the $40k, I don't see it as much different to following a sports team/comic books/games etc. It's ultimately just a soap opera, which millions of people of all ages watch and talk about. Although the odd thing about Phil is he doesn't seem to talk about it at all?
My thought as to why he pretends to be disinterested with the WWE is because he believes this adds to his propaganda that WWE Champions is detractor bullshit. Him pretending to be over and done with wrestling gives his WWE Champions denial more credibility (in his mind).

Why would Phil whale for a WWE game if he never watches wrestling anymore? That doesn't make sense. It must be detractor bullshit. That is the conclusion that he wants whales like beastbod to come to.

If Phil was honest and talked about how much he really loves wrestling then that would add credibility to the WWE Champions account being real. Remember, Phil has indoctrinated his wheelchairs to avoid this place like the plague. When Paul mentioned Kiwifarms a couple of streams ago, peepul were saying in his chat things to the effect of Kiwifarms is toxic, Kiwifarms is lies, etc. So the bulk of his wheelchairs believe the WWE Champions account is a detractor myth and PP Burnell is desperately trying to keep the lid on the truth.

As far as I know he has never outright denied the Champions speculations. So when it inevitably is proven to be real he can say

"I didn't say I didn't spend 40k on microtransactions, I just said it was 'nahnsense' . SEMANTICS!".

If there's anything the greasy pigroach as become decent at its weaseling through questions like a bitch.

His damage control strategy changes from minute to minute, he's not able to keep even extremely important lies straight, I mean how do you even explain this:

Phil had a busy weekend ahead

I think it's safe to assume at this point that Phil is still actively into wrestling, and if there is a lull, pause, or restriction to how much he consumes, it's because of Kat not liking it. He likely lied about his declining interest because it's not 'mature' (likely what Kat told him while she cranked up the New Age pan flute soundtrack), because reducing his wrasslin' intake reinforces his 'super busy' narrative, and because he had to cover his love of Champions.

We've had two big indicators that he's still into it, and that's that he has retained the WWE Network, despite allegedly cutting costs, and stood by it enough to defend its presence in a bankruptcy hearing, even if it demonstrated that he had personal electronics to view it on, and the fact that he absolutely lost his mind when PWDubz spoiled Wrestlemania. PW might be annoying and trollish, but Phil had tolerated him until then when he completely popped off, and now he shits on him constantly, probably because he hit the one thing Phil enjoys.

It may be a dumb hobby to some, but these are the reactions of a person who is still heavily invested in something that he enjoys. It must be so depressing and infuriating that memes about him are now starting to trickle into a community where he had actually built (or bought) respect, and he clearly tried so hard to hide what a fuckup he is from them. The agonizing slow burn as the detractors melt away his one actual hobby, and he can't moan or screech about what a victim he is because it would require publicly admitting he is an addict who has been scamming his viewers and basically fabricated a bankruptcy. It's amazing how he manages to always back himself into these poetic melodramas; the best writers could fail to convincingly script this out.

I was checking to see if DSP followed WWE Champions on Twitter (figured he didn't, worth a look though)
Turns out he follows Johnny Gargano, who is actually the only wrestler on Twitter he follows.

To preface, this thread is by far my favourite on the Farms. The concept of DSP spending thousands on a candy crush clone while going through bankruptcy is incredible.

You need to spend money on pulls for a chance to get the new sweaty man, who is required to max the event. Surely the top dog of the Uselessness guild can't afford to miss out on this, right? I'm not a betting man but I'll still take whatever odds you give me on TheyCallMeDSP owning Johnny before the weekend's over.

Yep, I think you're right on target with that post. When the time comes he will say "Show me exactly WHERE I said I was not playing WWE Champions!" or "I said I didn't spend $130,000! That's what I denied!"

He is very experienced in these matters of covering his ass. However we DO have screenshots of him irrefutably saying on his wwe guild discord that he is NOT the DSP people are claiming. Thanks to that mod leak, we have now basically confirmed it IS his profile and he was lying, no way around it.

So he has been caught red handed.

But we can, in the face of actual evidence, count on Phil to deny this. He the type of idiot to get kicked in the balls and somehow blame it wage inequality....

Do we still have anyone in DSP's guild discord?

nah everyone got purged, the guild leader is a massive faggot & went through asking ppl questions about the game and kicked anyone who didn't know enough about the game

but one of the guild members turned into a detractor when it first blew up, just dm me if you want to know something and i'll relay it, and I say dm me so ppl don't get upset with open discussion of faggotry
