Am I the only person who thinks when Phil makes up these bills or goals the money isn't for a future event it's Phil trying to recoup money he's already spent?
Considering the fact that Phil is going to die owing thousands of dollars to the IRS in back taxes, I find it hard to believe that his problem is merely laziness. He doesn't like giving up money unless it's for something he wants, that's why he's able to avoid falling behind on his mortgage despite it seeming like an inevitably. He can't afford, psychologically, to lose his big boy home, and the same thing goes for his precious Champions fix.

You notice how he seems to be able to get at least a little bit creative when it comes to grifting people? It isn't much, but it's more than you would expect from someone too lazy to bathe more than twice a week or ever cook for themselves. Phil isn't without the ability to exert himself or go against an age-old tradition of his, he just lacks the motivation 90% of the time because it takes something specific to get him going. Like the threat of being laughed at for having to move into a new place after losing the Wakhando, or falling behind in Champions. Phil will set money aside, it just either won't be for what he should, or will have an ulterior motive behind it.

That, or I'm wrong, and he's up to his oddly-shaped head in debt again already.

Am I the only person who thinks when Phil makes up these bills or goals the money isn't for a future event it's Phil trying to recoup money he's already spent? It makes more sense to me because making sure money is there for future events requires foresight and some level of financial responsibility and if Phil had that he wouldn't have most of the problems he does.
He makes this shit up all the time, yes. In the bank leaks, people compared the times when he mentioned "chargebacks" to his spendings and, lo and behold, everytime he spent a huge amount of money on jpegs, he posted on twitter about chargebacks that were exactly the same amount of money he spent.

Isn’t there always an event going on in these kinds of games? I played a little bit of the NBA SuperCard thing, and it seemed like they always had some sort of event going on. It got tedious instead of fun in a hurry.
Yup, there are big events like this Halloween one and in between the big ones you've got small ones to keep the whales spending all year long. There are always events but some events are more important than others, from what I've gathered when reading this thread the big events always introduce a jpg of a stronger, sweatier, more muscular wrestler with better stats while the smaller events introduce weaker ones.

I agree. From the leaks, we learned:

Phil will choose WWE Champions over paying his mortgage.

Phil doesn't spend all his money right away. It will eventually be WWE Champions time or $500 in groceries, but it takes time.

My guess is Phil just tries getting as much money as he possibly can, and he spends it without a care. He doesn't look at how much money he has, it's too painful. He just spends on whatever he wants, and damn the circumstances.

Did I just see someone mentioning the IRS?

You're overcomplicating stuff, he already watched the WWE Network exclusive: Top 10 Tax tips, he's fine, he knows what he's doing.

We can just assume The Accounting & Law Office of Hogan Esq. is both DSP's CPA and his identity fraud clinic at this point.

Is he actually hunting for Hulk Hogan specifically? I don't remember him specifically mentioning Hogan, and don't know enough about the game to know if that would be the case...

No, Phil appears to get every wrestler he can at the highest amount of stars. All I know is getting all of them to gold stars like he does is ridiculous amounts of money.

That sounds worse to me actually. Instead of getting new pictures to jerk off to, he's soullessly leveling up the pictures he already has.
I'm to assume all this does is tip the Bejeweled RNG slightly more in his favor?

Mobile game addicts are really weird.

Based on what we know about the game, his upgrading turns his pixel wrestlers into one-turn-win OP. It's pay-to-win, straight up.

My guess is it’s because there’s a certain level of control there. He can’t and has never won at any other game, just lied that he’s a master street fighter champion. At least with mobile p2w you can basically …. p2w. Such a low brow addiction lol.

Not really, he'd still win 99% of his matches in a few moves if he spent thousands less.

It's about finishing the highest in these events, which Phil has never won any. And bragging about burning the most money in a mobile game, which impresses nobody and his own guildmates call him an Open Wallet.

I think the comment of him being an open wallet was meant as a compliment, a term of endearment for his contribution to the ranking of the clan.
This I think cycles back to compulsive behavior. He sees empty spaces where stars should be, and he makes it his life's work to level those boys up and make Hulk Hogan proud.

He's a very psychologically damaged human being.

Sound a fair bit like his days a a powerhouse in the FGC, wasn't he known as an ATM back then?
Yes absolutely. He put hotels and airfare on credit cards, had a reputation for always getting the priciest thing on the menu, and got really into money matches. This put him in credit card debt which he was unable to pay off until 2012.

The other big parallel is that none of his spending was to help the FGC as a whole, it was all just to either go there or flex. By all accounts he was very unpopular but never crossed the line enough to get banned.

Edit to avoid double post: I forgot about it at first, but the one time he did try to help the FGC was the time he bought a couple of PS2s that he planned to either loan or donate to an upcoming tourney. This was when he worked at Best Buy, the purchase violated their "personal use only" policy, and he was summarily fired. When he complained about it on Shoryuken many posters said "what did you think was going to happen you idiot" and even the sympathetic posters thought firing someone over a couple PS2s was excessive, not because they liked Phil or thought the extra consoles would make a difference. Phil was expecting more asspats than that so he lashed out in a reply post calling the unsympathetic posters exceptional individuals and calling everybody ingrates.

So yes, even the one time he did something generous for the FGC it was something nobody really wanted and he was too radioactive for many people to get behind it.

His parents really fucked up with buying him so much shit, and you KNOW that's the reason he acts like this. Just look at how much it bothered him, the ONE thing he didn't get (the Wolverine toy). He never went without, and his parents taught him nothing about appreciating it, so ever since he got out into the world, he has done nothing but make an ass of himself by constantly wasting money on shit just to flex.

I hope they're proud, this account of his is the ultimate culmination of their years of shitty upbringing.

On that note, during my busy day of no-good nudnik escapades I found an old post from his "Top Haters" site about mail in rebates (archive). In his telling mail-in rebates are a scam because there is a small supply of eligible items and you have to wait a few months for the rebate check to get issued and clear.

But don't take my word for it, let's hear the words right from the Pig's snout:
you pay $249.99
mail-in rebate(s) -$150.00

price after rebate(s) $99.99

WOW! you say. A 200gb hard drive for $100! Amazing! What a deal!

WRONG!

If you could please open up your eyes for a few goddamn seconds, you would realize just how stupid you are.

First and foremost, this is a mail-in-rebate deal. You will have to pay $250 NOW and then get the $150 back in the mail, as a check, within 8-10 weeks. Now if you're made of money and time is not an issue to you, then that's fine. But to most of us, having to wait three months to get our money back (especially after having to buy a million presents for everyone and being in debt for three months AFTER Christmas anyway), this is a pretty lame deal.
Let that sink in, at the age of twenty one he was already used to racking up credit card debt every year and thought it happened to everyone other than the ultra-rich. I'm not sure which is more pathetic, using Christmas presents to flex or lying about doing that.
