He'll eventually find one with no/little discord presence but with enough whales that he can drag them to better rewards, now without praise.
He could always do what he should've done when his mod Discord started and just make a separate account. Hey, if he does that then he can have an official fan Discord. It almost seems like a good idea.

While that might help I'm unsure if making a new Discord would solve his problems. If he joins a new guild with any Discord presence they'll get fucked with just like Uselessness and Zena did. Although it would be harder to find out which one Phil was, I doubt he'd do that good of a job concealing himself and his whaling. Especially since you could likely just see who joined the server most recently and line that up with when he joined the guild.

My favorite part of this freemium addiction side story is that nobody here would’ve suspected a thing if Phil just used a separate username. I mean there’d still be speculation that Phil is some sort of mobile game addict but not with this much proof.

This whole thread came into existence all because he’s too full of himself to use a proper alias.

He was pretty open about his playing WWE Supercard, as far as being active on game forums under his same name. When he first made his Champions account, he didn't have any idea how bad he was going to whale, or how involved he was going to get with Discord (which he totally doesn't use and knows nothing about). He picked that name because he has no creativity and that's one of the few self-fellating aliases he uses for everything else.

Nothing he could do.

I disagree, Phil knew he was going to whale just like he did in WWE Supercard. He enjoyed the extra notoriety he received in Supercard because he was a Youtuber. Too bad that came back to bite him in the ass.

:story: imagine the guy in charge of that account going "holy shit, we got huge responses on our new event! Man, my boss is gonna love thi....what? Why is it just a bunch of pictures of an Italian man on a couch? I-is he jerking off in one of these images? Wh-why?"

Poor wwechampions PR guy lmfao
who's this 50 year old polish guy?

It would be funny if they kicked him off because his whaling isn't enough to make up for the negative PR of being associated with the pigroach and his WWE Champions-related bankruptcy.
If it was other games with developers that gave a shit, Phil probably would be gone. Scopely never responds to anything and just collects money.

Tony Montana had more morals about his business operation than Scopely does.

Being associated with high profile bankruptcy is how some hard charging prosecutor might realize he can make his bones by going after shit like this. There's probably some state out there where it constitutes illegal gambling. It attracts attention to the whole industry.

I would say that online TCGs use the same business model. Magic the Gathering's new online service Arena has:

...

So you have the same setup where it's free on paper but it's obviously designed to push players into spending real money. The big differences are the cost (maybe $1000 to build a top-of-the-line deck + a few hundred/year to update it) and culture...

Super late on the draw here but arena does have duplicate protection. Its had it for a long time. And the wildcard system is far less stupid than arbitrary dust values in Eternal or Hearthstone.

For full transparency and power level, I've spent $400 over 18 months or so. I don't expect to have to spend anything if I keep playing at the rate I'm playing (7-10 wins a day, based Corona chan) and I have every competitive tier 1 deck I could want. Most tier 1 decks cost $400 and up and when you decide to resell it, you'll lose half either to fees on TCGplayer or half because your local gaming store has to turn a profit. So I'm sunk at about the $200 I would lose from trying to play on paper, either way. Arena is super fair about value except for the mastery pass this specific set release.

I am curious, does Scopely and other gacha gambling games give "influencers" free accounts w/ ton of free in game currency??

Like I recall Jake Paul was given a shit ton of free pulls on that gambling mystery box site he took shit for peddling a while back.....

Obviously this doesnt apply to DSP but I'm half expecting him to use it as an excuse if eventually caught (like 100% caught, like direct evidence) to explain it to his pay pigs who will believe anything he says.

I've seen a few WWE Champions videos from promoted content creators, and they seem to disclose what they received in return, if anything, for their videos/streams.
I wish I could pull it up now but there was a video linked in here a few pages back of a WWE Champions Youtuber, and he was careful to disclose in the video info that the new wrestler he was trying out was on loan for promotional purposes, and that he didn't actually receive the new character.

I would assume that if Phil received anything, Scopely would expect way more promotion from him, and he's clearly doing everything to avoid it.

He can convince idiots like MoraMoria that he 'had to lie', but a person of average intelligence? Nah.

I feel that in a way, people are helping DSP give up his gambling addiction by driving him off these guilds and maybe off the game entirely, so he will have more funds to actually pay bills with and be fiscally responsible.. And I don't know how I feel about that. This might make me a bad guy, but I want DSP to fail, to be a train wreck, I don't want to see him win and live debt free. He doesn't deserve it in my eyes.

Might be time to step back a little, but also keep in mind that he has not acknowledged (genuinely) his issues, and he has in fact continued to spend thousands on the game. He hasn't changed the underlying habits that led to his current problems, so he's just going to repeat them. No savings, no retirement accounts, hoping that he can duck his debts (in part, since some can't be discharged). He's not doing well.
