Vaccines available to those at high risk! How will we know?: Honor system
Masks not required for vaccinated people! How will we know?: Honor system

Can't get to work because you are compromised, take public transportation, don't have health coverage yet because you just started the job, haven't had a PCP in years because poor, and are scared because the GOVERNMENT told you to be scared, so you filed for UI?: FULL MEDICAL RECORDS REQUIRED

It's ridiculous.

Those of us with natural immunity are being ignored thus even here in the US we're being subject to de facto vaccine passports because somehow a guy with a shot who never had the virus is more immune than those of us who actually had it?

I think not!!

That remind me of this mask meme.

If only the horrifying tag was still on happenings...

https://youtube.com/watch?v=PWJwDCYCfZoBojo, don't you FUCKING DARE put another lockdown against the country! This is your fault for not closing the border you incompetent bastard!
That's fucking horseshit. Sorry, but it is. Hospitals are not "overwhelmed", it's mostly fats - the ones so fat they are sick with it - dying.

The single biggest issue is constant testing, of asymptomatic people, using PCR tests running so many fucking cycles it will generate a +ve result.

The single biggest issue in the UK is the constant, constant "testing" and the whipping stick of "cases". Cases of what? How many are asymptomatic, how many have minor symptoms, how many are pretty ill, how many seriously ill and need hospital treatment?

This shit ends when the testing stops because people stop complying and people start turning off fucking Netflix and asking to be given proper, contextualised figures for "cases".

At least learn where to direct your anger at, for crying out fucking loud.

I took a disabled friend to get their second Moderna shot on Friday. They had some (rare but not unusual) issues, related to their condition, on the way to the clinic and lost the ability to walk. The doctor on duty scratched his head, and since my friend doesn't have any sort of official diagnosis, and their first shot had had no side effects, they went ahead and gave 'em the second shot. Friend was fine till midnight, then got a fever, went delirious, lost the ability to control movement again, and woke up the next morning curled up half in the open fridge, trying to cool off. They weren't able to move to feed themselves all day yesterday, so I took 'em dinner, and after about 30 hours, they were finally starting to feel better.

I chatted with another (generally healthy but Celiac) friend who had side effects from the Pfizer shot so bad she said she couldn't even walk to the bathroom the first night. To balance all that worry out, the majority of my other friends have been totally fine (except one totally healthy guy who's just getting over things a week and a half later) but geez... I'm thinking the the vaccine literature should mention that you might need a caregiver for the first 24 hours.

Today was my first day in a store without a mask. It was amazing! I like the fact I could breath better walking at a faster pace. No wonder everyone is turning into a fat ass.

Kids are more likely to spread all sorts of germs, maybe not even getting sick themselves. They cough and sneeze without covering their mouths, they touch everything and everyone, they don't wash their hands well unless supervised.
If anything, parents should be harassed for having kids around at all. I mean, how dare they endanger the adult people around them like that? Irresponsible.

If parents are scared, they should keep their kids home. Let the kids be homeschooled. Make sure their kids wear masks and social distance. The pharmaceutical companies will get the green light to vaccinate kids soon, so just hunker down until then.

I've got a kid with a severe food allergy. I'll admit that it can be terrifying when everyone around you is doing something that might be dangerous for your kid. But most parents want their kids to live as normally as possible. So you do what you can to minimize the risk and then you move the fuck on. I could keep my kid in a bubble or I can teach him the best strategies for avoiding allergens and let him be as normal a kid as possible.

There are no guarantees in this life. I've known parents who have lost their kids and it can happen in a split second. But, what is the point of living if you are too afraid to enjoy anything? To quote one of my favorite movies, "I'd rather have 30 minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special".

The problem is that when I quit my part time job because it was a terrible work environment, NY state cut off my unemployment entirely because that part time job now counted as my "last employer" and you couldn't collect unemployment at the time if you quit. Even back then, they were telling people (unfortunately I found this out later) NOT to take part-time jobs that pay less than unemployment for this very reason. So people aren't going to take a shitty job and not only lose their unemployment temporarily, but risk not getting it back at all if the job is shit.

Decades ago, state unemployment agencies had head-scratching policies. Someone I know out of work during the recession in the late 70s/early 80s had the local unemployment office send him to work at a job he wasn't fit for. When that workplace let him go and told him to report back to the unemployment office, the latter wanted to send him back to that exact same job again.

Nowadays, I'm pretty sure people are less willing to take part-time work because they don't want their unemployment reduced in any way while they try to collect it for as long as possible. Barring those who are now being told by their states the work search requirements are resuming soon, few people seem motivated to look for work on their own accord for reasons already discussed.

TL;DR - When you pay people more in unemployment than they can get at a job, they are going to stay home.
I think the Democrats are very aware of this fact with some of the more liberal ones using it to renew their push for UBI as the cure-all for what ails US citizens from a financial perspective.

Nah, people are fucking pissed here in the US and basically there wasn't enough of a body count. No getting around that, the elites wish this thing was more deadly, oh well maybe next time.
One would think those in power would be chest-thumping that the death toll was significantly lower than initial projections. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Worse, numbers appear to have been grossly inflated as part of the push to have Trump voted out of office under the guise of not doing enough to stop the spread of COVID. Now that he's out and the economy isn't recovering fast enough, the Dems are bouncing and squeaking as they have to do something more than blame Trump. I imagine many are not happy that they have to start easing up restrictions due to both the poor job numbers and the number of people that have been vaccinated so far as they demanded. Michigan's Governor Whitmer comes across like she's silently defeated when she's announced the easing of restrictions as if she's not happy to have to give up the power and authority she invoked when this all first started.

That's such blatant fear mongering that I almost respect the chutzpah.
Even some of the people I know who might be seen as doomers have admitted they're sick and tired of the fear mongering, gaslighting, and other stuff going on that's kept the public in a near-constant state of fear, uncertainty, and doubt since the end of last winter.

Teachers shouldn't be insulting students.
Sadly, it's something that's always taken place. COVID seems to have brought it out more often and to the forefront. Worse, teachers with tenure are generally untouchable and can treat students like this with few repercussions if any.

Teflon Don strikes again, even when he's losing he can't stop winning through sheer retard luck. That's the incredible thing about Trump to me, is he really that smart/lucky or are his enemies all just that retarded?
I'd argue a combination of both. Trump is quite shrewd if one gets to know him or watched one or more seasons of the Apprentice. It's just that's it can be hard to see if one focuses solely on all his blustering and empty talk. At the same time, his detractors think his a blathering idiot and end up quick to underestimate/dismiss him when it's not the best choice for them to make.

So... Has anybody actually been asked for proof of vaccination yet for anything?
Not yet. Many places in my area have admitted they won't feel comfortable asking for proof because of the negative "Show me your papers" vibe such a question has. I won't be asking any of my business clients if they're vaccinated because I have neither desire or need to know. A handful have voluntarily disclosed they've been vaccinated, but it's not information I plan to actively seek out unless I have to.

Today when picking up some prescriptions, was asked if I had been vaccinated. When I said no, the person said, "Aw. come on, we like you." "I like you, too, but I don't trust the government." "Well, think about it." I just smiled.
I'd probably pause briefly and say, "I thought about it, and I'm still not interested."

I forget which Kiwi it was that's discussed how COVID has impacted their church, but things might be improving here. The local church's pastor mentioned this morning that it was too soon for the church to adjust protocols based on the guidelines that took effect yesterday, but that changes in response to those guidelines would be discussed and announced in the coming week. However, there was one minor change this week that suggests that fewer restrictions could be coming in the near future if not next week.

This leads me to believe that most normies are at the point where they still want to do what's safe without all the unnecessary ongoing bullshit.

It was probably me, and I have an update on that front myself. After the CDC posted their updated guidelines, the council had a meeting over email that night where they decided to do away with requiring masks in service, effective immediately. So this morning, practically nobody was wearing masks at all, which was a pleasant sight to see; I haven't been wearing a mask at all since we came back, even with the requirements, so it wasn't a big change for me (there's an advantage to being the only tech-literate member of a church full of boomers and being stuck running the camera for remote services; ain't nobody gonna fire me for not wearing a mask). There's still the damn ribbons in the pews to enforce social distancing for now, but they'll be discussing that and other changes like normal communion at the actual council meeting later in the month. My guess is those will be going soon too since it sounds like nobody actually likes having them, and we'll hopefully be fully back to normal within a few weeks.

This is really confirming what I'd already become aware of, however. Despite all the lunacy and backtracking and doublespeak from the "experts" throughout this scamdemic, and despite the evidence that they're full of shit being pretty easy to see for anyone who dares to look, a lot of normies out there still take the assholes like Fauci et. al. at their word and refuse to go back to normal until they're told it's okay. Even though there aren't bodies piling up in the streets, even if you don't know a single person who got really sick or died from the coof, too many people just could not bring themselves to ditch the muzzles and start acting human again unless someone with a fancy title told them it was okay. It's fucking sad is what it is.

Still, the comments from my pastor about refusing to go back to those restrictions again make me optimistic that my church will remain a beacon of sanity. Here's hoping he sticks to that if things turn sour and another "surge" happens.

I don't need to correlate it anything to shame them. I passed some dude walking his dogs with his mask down and he saw me (maskless) coming and pulled it up even though it was an 8ft side walk. I told him "you should mask up the dogs too, to be safe" and he yelled something about me being a selfish asshole. I just threw an "ok faggot" over my shoulder.

Feel free to say "and then everyone clapped" but I'm honestly as much of an angry asshole IRL as on the net as I slowly get more and more burned out living in this clown world

I wont judge you because I feel the same way. I.am.SOO.DONE with this fucking bullshit and the ones that keep wearing masks like their lives depend on it. For fuck's sake, if you were to die of Covid, you would have already!

As I say constantly, these masks are the equivalent of adult diapers and pacifiers...at this point its just for psychological relief and reassurance. Like that blanket you kept as a toddler because it "made the boogeyman go away". Covid is the grown up's boogeyman, both are "invisible" threats you need special protection from...except you outgrow from the boogeyman...Covid? You are reassured constantly that it will get you at ANY moment!

Had beach baptism at my church this week and there were a few thousand people almost entirely maskless together on the beach celebrating people’s devotion to Christ. It was our biggest one ever too. Bible based churches unafraid to mention Sin are doing amazing right now.

How ironic that Yahoo JUST came out with this article.

Not archiving because it's not important enough.

TL;DR - States are going to require people to actually look for work again to collect their unemployment, and that's not fair somehow.

Michigan, USA

New mask regulations as of Saturday morning:
Masks are no longer required at most indoor places for vaccinated customers, but are still required for the unvaccinated customers and for all employees. Businesses must make a "good faith" effort to enforce this policy, which can be as simple as posting a sign.
Masks are still required for everyone at hospitals, prisons, and homeless shelters, as well as on public transportation.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) also announced that Michigan's entire mask mandate would be lifted July 1.

The Bishops of Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Marquette are restoring Catholics' obligations to attend Sunday Mass as of May 23, which is Pentecost. The Bishop of Gaylord is restoring it May 30, Trinity Sunday. The church I go to is going to get rid of the ropes closing every other pew on Pentecost.
(The Bishop of Saginaw restored it last October, the Bishop of Grand Rapids this February, the Archbishop of Detroit in March)
