You wouldn't believe the neuroses that I've seen displayed about this stuff. Plans being canceled and angry passive aggressive recriminations because it came out that one person rode in a car with someone else a week earlier. The formation of 10-day quarantine "safety bubbles" just to visit nephews and nieces. I just took a swab test to give family members "peace of mind" in order to have Christmas Eve dinner with them. For the most part I keep my disdain for these rituals to myself and go along with it because, well, I love my family and I'd rather see them than sperg the fuck out on principle. I live in a pretty liberal area and I wonder if it's different in more conservative communities.

I've found that "kill yourself faggot/bitch" is extremely effective against older people. It won't work on GenX or newer, but for old people it knocks the wind out of them. The last time I used it, the woman looked like she caught the vapors and needed a fainting couch.
I'm on board with your approach, Joseph. I went out and got a haircut, then walked across the parking lot to what used to be my usual bar last week. It was nice to see people again, and when I got in the bar the mask came off and life felt "normal" again for a little while. I wish everyone the best this Christmas, enjoy good food and family if you can, and hell yeah we'll pull through this somehow. As an aside, there had been a "HOPE" sign near one of the local bus stops since maybe April. Last week it was taken down. Either the person who made and put up the sign has lost hope or the sign was getting faded, take your pick. I don't give a fuck either way.

The social dimensions of this are really interesting to see, in sort of a horrifying sense. The corporations that stand to profit from the vaccines are overjoyed about all the shaming of skeptics and signaling that one is onboard with "The Science." And really, I suspect they use sophisticated psychological manipulation techniques to create this sort of personality on a mass scale, but that's probably too tinfoily for this thread.
And they have form for this, too. The swine flu "pandemic" of 2009 was the practise run. People didn't care and the government were ignored. They forced staff in NHS hospitals to have the vaccine and a good number were left with narcolepsy.
Most vaccines are rigorously tested over the course of a decade to document any potential long term health effects that may arise and what type of person they afflict so forgive us for being concerned that this thing is being pushed out at less than a tenth of that time frame for the sake of injecting "hope" into people.
