Another chat with my pal in Melbourne Aus.

The virus is now pretty much done. Down to about 10-20 a day, transmission limited to hospitals and Indian ethnics.

Lockdown remains in force. 9PM curfew, all but essential businesses closed, permits needed to travel etc etc. There may be a partial lifting in a week or two depending if numbers stay low. Full lifting of lockdown and return to 'Covid normal' will have to wait for complete elimination, no cases for 28 days, which means never as there's also talk of re-starting international arrivals. Best case scenario is outdoor dining for restaurants and having up to 5 people in your house for social gatherings. Churches and other places of worship will remain closed and that's looking like it's permanent.

The Victorian government is also about to pass emergency legislation supposedly to deal with quarantine compliance, which is very fucking disingenuous. The only examples they can cite of people not self isolating after positive tests are sub continental and African migrants who they refuse to charge anyway because SJW. The law will allow the government to confer any official with police powers, including the power to arrest. If the official considers any citizen to be 'high risk' of spreading the coof they can order an immediate arrest and indefinite detention until the health risk has passed (which they will also decide). The legislation does limit the detention to people who either have the virus or are close contacts however as there's no right to court review and no due process, including presentation of evidence, then they will be able to pretty much detain anyone they feel like. The law will override any other legislation and again citizens have no right to judicial review or appeal. A suspension of Habeas Corpus because of a bad chest cold, fun times.

I also have a pal in Victoria and it is absolute insanity over there. Australians have been stripped of pretty much all civil rights. I don't know what I'd do in that situation. Aren't they only allowed out one hour a day??

Lunacy, absolute lunacy. It's like Orwellian 1984 over there. So much for democracy. America is pretty batshit with the restrictions but at least we aren't on that level of insanity.

I understand they're allowed outside for 'essential activities' for up to two hours a day now. Essential activities include exercise, shopping for food and working in a vital service.

Looking at the numbers transmission is down to a handful of clusters concentrated in a few large family ethnic groups and a couple of hospitals, easily dealt with through contact tracing.

The giveaway as to what's really going on there is the need for complete elimination before opening up the economy and passing a law that allows the government to arrest and detain anyone they feel like without involving the courts.

The Victorian government is part of the Chinese belt and road initiative and the Soros funded Strong Cities Network. It looks like they've received their marching orders, a real time experiment on how far a western population can be pushed into a soft totalitarian rule without causing massive civil unrest. So far it seems to be working.

Got this email feed a little while ago. Have redacted some identifying information. Believe Newsom will be fucking the state over on this for at least the next year. He will find/make up any reason he can think of to hurt as many Californians as possible - unless he is recalled. There's no science at work here - all political control.

Expect the line for food bank food Monday to be very long again. I keep seeing the neighbor kids playing outside a lot during the day. Guess their online schooling isn't worth anything. Glad as hell son and family escaped CA, otherwise he'd still be out of work and up against it. Personally am affected but little, but seeing how others are suffering without justification bothers me.

Six months after he first ordered the shutdown of the County economy to help prevent the coronavirus from spreading here, Dr. Ed Moreno (who makes almost $350,000/year, and hasn't missed a paycheck - JS) said he “can’t anticipate” when the county might be able to loosen the restrictions that remain in place.

The first shutdown order went into effect at 12:01 a.m. March 18 and “would last three weeks,” Moreno’s office said at the time.

But with schools and many businesses still closed, indoor dining at restaurants prohibited, and thousands of county residents either out of work or making do with greatly reduced incomes, Moreno was asked on a Friday conference call whether some of those restrictions might be lifted by November.

"This pandemic has had its moments when it’s changed and been unpredictable,” making it difficult to know what’s coming next, Moreno said. And with the Gov. Gavin Newsom (who also hasn't missed a single paycheck - JS) deciding when and where counties can reopen their economies, it’s also hard to know what he’ll do.

“As the pandemic has evolved, the state has changed the metrics and criteria for tightening or loosening restrictions, and there could still be changes in the months ahead in the manner in which the state guides counties through this pandemic to simultaneously slow the spread but also encourage opportunities for our businesses to reopen.”

Three days before those remarks, Moreno told the board of supervisors the county’s coronavirus numbers have been declining. But data released during the week show that there are still lots of new cases, and we remain a long way from what the state will require before our economy can move from what is called the Purple Tier of economic shutdown (the most restrictive) to the Red Tier.

This morning, the county health department announced 83 new cases of coronavirus infection among county residents, bringing our total to 9,550. One week ago, the total was 8,990. Of the 560 cases during the week, 468 have been in the Valley, and 36 have been on the Peninsula. (So why would anyone in their right mind get tested? I sure as hell am not. I don't want any part of seeing a lot of good people hurting due to "cases". -JS)

Beyond the raw numbers, the case rate has also increased. Last Sunday, based on county data, our 7-day average of new cases per 100,000 residents was 13.0. This week, it is 17.2. (The governor’s threshold for moving to the next level of shutdown is 7.0, and to qualify, we would have to stay there for three straight weeks.)

While the state uses a different database and different formulas to calculate our “official” case rate — and its numbers never quite match what the county health department says — there can be no doubt that, for the moment, at least, we are moving in the wrong direction. (We'll be moving in the wrong direction forever. Newsom will just change his criteria again. Recall him. - JS)
Do these dense motherfuckers even realize they'll turn their states into the new flyovers? Industries aren't going to stick around when their bottom line keeps getting fucked with for arbitrary reasons, even Silicon Valley and Hollywood might get envious of less backwards ass states.

You guys think California is bad now, just wait until everyone tries to leave for greener pastures.

People like this frighten me more than the WuFlu ever could.
That fool should cut the feelgood horseshit, this "marathon" has the potential of becoming the New Depression.

God help us all if the economy collapses, society will shit itself even worse than it did this year.

What actually happens when that happens? Will it look like Brazil like everyone says it will with a small elite class and massive impoverished underclass? Or does it get so bad all the immigrants they imported team up with the red parts of the state and flip California red when the handouts stop coming? Does California stop being hip and the losers move to some new hip place to parasitize?

The Atlantic can suck a dick.

>Accept reality

Bitch you fuckers don't even know what bathroom to use. Don't try to lecture the rest of us on reality.

How long until the left starts demanding the federal government start paying for those handouts to keep California blue?

Yes, we need to test 2-3% of the entire US population EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Get the fuck out of here.

Speaking of testing, check this out. Even if they come to my door wanting to test me, I shall still refuse. In my county, the more cases found, the longer the hardship to be inflicted on innocent people who just want to feed their families.

@VaultBoy - ONLY reason I'm still in CA is due to wife's family being here. Things in the People's Republic get worse every day.

I know it probably shouldn't have, but it's absolutely unfathomable to me just how much people have "accepted" what's happening.

We're actually at the point now where full lockdowns are killing more people than the actual virus in most places, but mentioning that means that you are "spreading misinformation" or "want people to die so you can go out."

I'll never underestimate the stupidity of my fellow man again.

Actually, I probably will because they always find a new low to shock me.

I know the new grapes of wrath
Is coming and a great many will start to leave the Pacific coast to make there way farther north and back to the midwest. Its going to suck because as others have stated most of these fools refuse to acknowlege their the problem.

Good thing most hipsters don't have kids however California will become Mexifornia and politicians like Pelosi will get replaced by people who can't even speak English.

Real talk, I'd rather live here with LEGAL and American born Hispanics who want to work hard, go to church, and become Americans than shithead, degenerated progressive whites and their self-destructive ways, and of course groids.

People like this frighten me more than the WuFlu ever could.

What the fuck does this raghead know about struggle and adversity? One thing that's fueling my anger over all of this bullshit in the 6 month mark is I'm single and how in the hell am I supposed to meet a woman in this fucked up environment? On the bright side at least I'm not shacked up with some worthless BLM supporting bitch who's 20 lbs overweight from quarantine and their anti-depressant fueled neuroses.

I've seen profiles on my dating app where girls expect you to wear a mask on the first date and it throws me in a fury over it being so disgustingly pseudo-Islamic. What's next, you're going to request a male relative chaperone us?

Quote from article:
State health leaders have encouraged households to participate in the study if asked. It includes an interview and testing for active COVID-19 infections as well as virus-fighting antibodies that would signal a previous exposure.

I thought we still didn't have a functional antibody test? (Which... is that not a travesty?) I got antibody tested a few months ago, as part of LA's study, and when I spoke to my insurance company's nurse about it they said the tests are so unreliable that you have to take 5 and average them to get anything close to useful information. Their only usefulness is supposedly as an overall study on a large populace group where the incorrect positives and negatives can average out.

Almost as if they are using Pop-Science as some sort of replacement for Religion.
Been saying this over and over. If it's not pop sci, they use politics directly or their fandoms. But at least they're clever, witty, and smart for not needing an invisible sky wizard to tell them how to live their lives/help them cope with the universe being meaningless :smug:

These idiot journos and political appointees expert scientists also seem to think that testing can get a disease under control.
Like bitch explain how testing gets a fucking virus under control.

^This.

I personally have better luck in-person than dealing with dating apps, but the stupid "50% capacity" and social distancing bullshit + weird hours on businesses (re: coffee shops) makes it harder for me to utilize my element.

If we were any other species, this shit wouldn't fly...

Took the morning walk. Looked for the usual line of cars waiting for the food bank food. Didn't see any, but didn't go look all the way down.

Either fewer people need the food, which I doubt, or else there was only a little or no food to provide.

I'm utterly disgusted. This ChiCom Flu thing has affected me and my wife but little. Income not affected. Don't go to school. Don't shop much anyway.

Was hard to see son and family escape CA, but was happy for them. Otherwise, he'd still be out of work, with the lower unemployment checks.

Find it very hard to know so many people are out of work, and so many suffering, because of one no-good motherfucker's power trip. Know what it's like to be unemployed for an extended period, then have the unemployment checks run out. Everything after two weeks was strictly a political power play. Guess we are lucky compared to the people in Victoria, Australia, who basically have no rights at all. Again, some sack of shit is on a power trip. We still have some judges who listen to reason. We may be able to get this "governor" recalled.

In our state, the goalposts constantly change for lifting of the house arrest, county by county. One metric is the number of cases over a given period. Doesn't matter whether the case is asymptomatic or acute, a case is a case to these retards. To my logic, it behooves me never to be tested unless I am badly sick and end up in the hospital. No test - no case, no part in fucking over thousands of innocent people.

The county I live in is under our little Hitler's most restrictive regime. To date, as of a few seconds ago, our county has had a grand total of 9,237 cases, and 67 deaths, for a county of almost 450,000 since the house arrest started over six months ago. Just over eleven people died one way or another of this disease every month. Eleven. Bet that many or more were killed in auto accidents, and am sure far more than that have died of cancer/heart disease every month.
I look at the numbers from my son's county in Texas. As of a few minutes ago, there have been 12,966 cases, with a total of 137 dead over this period, for a county of 1,072,650. Hmm...that's less than twenty-five people per month dying of this virus. And of all who have died of this virus nationally, less than ten thousand died of the virus alone. Everyone else had at least two other serious health problems.

What. The. Fuck. Except, perhaps, in the cases of New York City and maybe Los Angeles, you cannot tell me the house arrests have been effective at all. The politicians hear what they want to hear and disregard the rest, so they can continue their oppressive measures.

You've heard me say this before, and I'll say it again. The societal damage to our country from the ChiCom Flu will be worse than the economic damage. Trust in and credibility of government/judiciary/law enforcement, at least below the level of the President, has been wrecked in many places. "They" shouldn't expect much voluntary cooperation from people the next time something happens.

They are trying to boost positive case numbers in Minnesota to justify further lockdowns, so it would not surprise me that they are using unreliable tests to do so. The photos I posted earlier in the thread of the morbidly obese woman with dirty fingernails and no PPE keeping the tests in her dirty van were from this initiative. The people of Minnesota know what the game is, which is why the team was met with armed resistance.

Travis AFB Update
  • The base hospital has resumed normal operations in all departments as of today. Supposedly. Still required to wear masks, at least.
  • Hospital staff have not only still been eating at work this whole time, but this year has seen more potlucks there than possibly ever.
  • A radiology resident just tested positive and is being ordered to quarantine, as is the fellow who was eating with him.
  • You're not allowed to get tested in most cases, even if you're showing multiple symptoms, hence why rates here on base seem so low.
  • There's been no restrictions against going about one's business that I've come across. (eg; range practice, grocery shopping, frivolous shopping, visits - all both on and off base)
