Not accusing you of lying because we all know that Bill DeBlasio is an idiot, but is there a source for the story that he gave the masks to the homeless? I haven't been able to find anything yet.
 
Some interesting tidbits in the first 15 minutes, mostly about China blaming the virus on foreigners. Apparently infected chinks returning home are being described as "travelers from Australia" or wherever they flew in from. He predicts a big second wave of infection in China.

See, if I were running the show, when the shit hits the fan in big cities, I would screen every admission, and repurpose a local hospital to be just corona, and send all non-corona (Labor and Delivery, Post Partum, NICU, cardiology, nephrology, etc.) to another area hospital.

Major PL, but I am due in May, hospital is in Downtown LA. beautiful, I know. Under normal conditions, you just go in when it is showtime, and they admit you and they place an epidural and check your hoodie-doodle to see if labor is progressing. Then you deliver the baby or they do a c-section. Baby is given an APGAR score, vitamin K, and probably some other voodoo magic.

Then at 4 am or some shit, the Post Partum nurse is pinching banged up areas and your nipples and this awful stuff, while you kind of feel like dying.

Next day they bring in lactation consultant at some ungodly hour, pediatrician follows, to reexamine baby.

If baby has some problem, s/he gets shuttled off to the NICU. That is the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where they have babies on monitors and in bubbles. Not all babies are in bubbles, but the really fragile cases are practically on lockdown.

But before you deliver you have to see your OB every couple weeks in the last couple months or so.

Here is a foreshadowing: I can come but please .... keep the husband and kids at home.

I asked about getting tested for the wu-flu, and get this .... amazingly the hospital down the street has a full testing facility in place. But in order to be tested, I have to have some obvious symptoms, like burning lungs, raging fever, etc.

So basically, Dr. routinely screens her patients, so far, for sexually transmitted infections (most of her patients, snowball's chance) and the Zika virus (practically impossible) but can not screen for a plague, that I could actually transmit to Labor and Delivery staff, and subsequently into the NICU?

Ok that I hope addresses the issue, at least halfway, as it stands today in LA, CA.

The chances of a woman of reproductive age dying of this are slim. But if you can't breathe deeply, you can't push. So they will probably carve her up like a turkey to get the kid out.

But to me, it is insidious that an asymptomatic mom can come in and infect the entire maternity ward.

That depends on a few things. Mostly where the main route that the Virus will take. But it has not run fully in that country and considering the different Temperate zones that large country has it is going to take awhile for it to go away. So yes there could be another wave hitting other parts of china and reinfection where it first started.

The worst thing and the most logical one is that this man made virus will be a permanent yearly advent. We are not even sure on what places in the world that the virus is the least effective due to temperate ( and seasonal) zones.

Which means unless people develop a natural resistant to this as well as some sort of vaccine, this is going disrupt the current way of life as we speak.

Viruses mutate. This means that there could be several different strains. One that is mild but infects quickly on one extreme and one that kills slowly on the other.

Regardless... our way of life has changed.
 
The only thing we can do is what we do best Kiwis. Archive everything. This is CCP's fault. We're sticking it to them. They are not in control.

Last time I checked we had around 1000 new cases a day.
Then 2000. Now we reached about 5000 new ones. Within the week it has been taking off really.

Canada has joined the big boy club. 1087 cases, 11 recovered, 13 deaths. 3 days ago they were at 597. Ontario and British Columbia are still the big winners but the other provinces are starting to catch up.

It's just sad. That bill will do nothing for anyone. I hope Trump tells congress to change it and they listen. I hope he will do this in his own self interest, of being re-elected, at the very least.
