Switzerland:

A 28-year-old computer scientist who came back from Milan tested positive for the virus in Geneva, the authorities said. Two new confirmed coronavirus cases also come from the canton of Graubünden.

According to "Tribune de Genève", the man from Geneva was at Milan Fashion Week. According to the authorities, he is in Geneva University Hospital. According to the information, he is fine. The man had returned from Milan three days ago, says a spokesman for the Geneva health department. On his return, he contacted a doctor who then ordered a test.

The positive test result was then available on Wednesday evening. Due to the further investigations, around 15 people from the professional and private environment of the person concerned were placed in quarantine at home.

The two infected from the canton of Graubünden are also hospitalized, and their state of health is also described as good.

The first first coronavirus infection in Ticino was announced on Tuesday. This increases the number of coronavirus sufferers in Switzerland to four.

San Francisco and Los Angeles are the biggest problems. The desert areas of California probably won't be hit that big. At least I hope they don't. Places like Palm Springs are popular with old people. A lot of blue collar people live in the desert and San Bernardino.

I'm not so sure about Southern California. Places like Santa Ana have a homeless problem. It doesn't help that dumbasses like the federal government are trying to bring multiple infected people into Costa Mesa. (Which has an airport right near it by the way and Disneyland is not far from.)

One more thing: Los Angeles has a pretty bad smog problem. I don't know if that'll contribute to problems for ill people there. The air quality is not so good.

A bit of a PL, but whatever.

I grew up near March ARB and the smog from LA often blew into town whenever we had an onshore flow weather pattern. It would turn the horizon a faint dusky brown color. The high pressure systems and Santa Ana winds would keep the air pretty clean in winter, in summer it was like breathing dirt on a bad day.
A lot of my classmates had asthma as kids due to it. My first time to rural New England was interesting because of how clean the air was - it almost hurt to breathe. I guarantee you that most people in Los Angeles and western Riverside counties have compromised respiratory systems due to smog.

EDIT: Ministry of Health says it is not Corona-chan and kindly asks everyone to stay calm and stop with harmful rumors. Probably because the public health system is on a third world level.

The smog there gets so bad that you can barely see the skyscrapers in downtown Los Angeles from the hills in further away cities. In Summer it's definitely worse.

I was contacted by 2 separate associates today informing me of numerous super-sized deliveries being made to multiple medical centers/private hospitals, fire departments, and health departments in different parts of the state. These shipments were double or more of what would be seen as a very heavy delivery day. Gloves, wipes, masks, general hygiene stuff... but they also said to contain all sorts of unusual items. (one pic was sent to me) I later reached out to 2 other associates in a neighboring state and heard basically the same answers from them (ruling out this was the result of a state mandate) I'd estimate all those orders were placed between 5-10 days ago.

Yeah that's hospitals ordering for possible pandemic level supplies. My hospital doesnt know how bad corona Chan is gonna get but between the CDC flip flopping and the who being a hoe almost every hospital is gearing up we ain't taking no chances. I literally had to go to Singapore because my boss didn't trust the Chinese stats. There's actually a meeting to day to refresh basic CPR and first aid for fire fighters and cops. they're throwing info about corona Chan as well.
If anything corona Chan is going to teach ya don't trust your government. The CDC knows how fucked we'll be if this spreads further my boss had a rage yesterday morning because the CDC won't give us any means to teast in house or actual stats on how many are infected. Basically most hospitals are trying to gather supplies before shit really hits the fan and we can't order any more.

I don't cry after stocks I bought. I consider the money lost if I make a profit, great.
I can do everything as before but not stocks. My funds I invested in are still accessible.
Anyone here has a similar thing?

South Korea has announced hundreds of new coronavirus cases in the space of only a few days and raised its infectious disease alert to the highest level. The surge in cases has centred around two main clusters from a church in Daegu city and a nearby hospital. The new outbreak has pushed South Korea’s tally of confirmed cases much higher than anywhere else outside of China.
The virus was first confirmed in the country on Jan. 20 when a 35-year-old Chinese woman who flew from Wuhan, China to Incheon international airport, which serves Seoul, was isolated upon entry into the country. In the four weeks following the incident, South Korea managed to avoid a major outbreak with only 30 people contracting the virus, despite many interactions between those later confirmed as being sick and hundreds more people being identified as contacts of the sick patients.
This changed with the emergence of “Patient 31.”

It’s not clear where Patient 31 became infected with the virus, but in the days before her diagnosis, she travelled to crowded spots in Daegu, as well as in the capital Seoul. On February 6 she was in a minor traffic accident in Daegu, and checked herself into an Oriental medicine hospital. While at that hospital, she attended services at the Daegu branch of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, on February 9 and again on February 16.
In between those visits, on February 15, doctors at the hospital said they first suggested she be tested for the coronavirus, as she had a high fever. Instead, the woman went to a buffet lunch with a friend at a hotel. In an interview with local newspaper JoongAng Ilbo, the woman denied that doctors had advised her to be tested. As her symptoms worsened, however, doctors say they once again advised her to be tested. On February 17, she finally went to another hospital for the test. The next day, health authorities announced she was the country’s 31st confirmed case. In only a matter of days, those numbers had soared as hundreds of people at the Shincheonji Church and surrounding areas tested positive.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (KCDC) said on Saturday they had obtained a list of 9,300 people who had attended those two Shincheonji church services, around 1,200 of whom had complained of flu-like symptoms. Hundreds of cases have now been confirmed there.
A second major cluster emerged from a nearby hospital in Cheongdo, a county close to Daegu. Authorities are investigating links between the church in Daegu and a funeral service at the hospital, which a number of church members attended from January 31-February 2. If confirmed, it means Patient 31 could be linked to both clusters. Between Daegu and Cheongdo county, the areas account for around 80 percent of the cases in the entire country.
Authorities are still investigating how Patient 31 contracted the virus, having no recent record of overseas travel or earlier known contact with other confirmed cases.

All I know my stocks are tanking bitcoin's going up. Probably a glitch because last night a shit ton were selling off their stocks maybe system broke?
 
Somehow the South Corean official jumping off the bridge got me more in the feels than all the deaths around.

But on a lighter, more cynical note, I found it funny how "responsible" and "swift" everything is working in Germany, when I read our Health Minister on one hand speaks of the start of an epidemic and on the other has ordered all authorities to revise (!) their pandemia-plans.
Sounds reasonable but a bit late for such a big task, doesn't it?

I don't see China ever coming back as big as it was after this finishes up. And I don't just mean in the economic sense either, I fully expect at least several thousand more people to die out over there from the country's piss poor conditions basically helping the virus along. this also applies to their (already low) reputation from other countries, considering this is all their fault in the first place.

Trust me if I was stuck taking care of 100s upon 100s of patients with a disease with no known cure and witness such extreme suffering and dealing with incompetence you'd bet your ass I'm gonna be fucked in the head.
This nigga probably saw too much suffering and realized how fucked we are.
 
Okay, so I am watching the press conference regarding the first confirmed case in Vienna.

Basically we are fucked, I guess…….

The confirmed patient is a 72 year old man. He was admitted to the hospital 10 days ago as flu patient (Influenza). He and other patients were randomly checked for coronavirus and lo and behold - he's positive. He was then transported to another hospital and is at the moment in critical condition (on a ventilator and not conscious). 3 departments of the hospital were closed down and medical personnel was sent home to self-quarantine.

There is another male patient (middle aged) who is probably infected (first test was positive, second one is still pending). He has a history of travel to Italy and is in good condition with mild symptoms and currently at home in quarantine.

The 72-year-old man is the first confirmed coronavirus case in Vienna. He had been in the Rudolfsstiftung hospital with “classic flu symptoms” for ten days, said Hacker. At the weekend, instructions were given to routinely test all patients with symptoms for the coronavirus. "In the course of this testing, this patient was tested positive."

"In any case, we will bring the employees who looked after the patient directly home with them," continued Hacker at the press conference. These would be placed in quarantine at home. In the Rudolfstiftung hospital, three departments were blocked. The 72-year-old was transferred to the Kaiser Franz Josef Hospital on Thursday.

The health service of the City of Vienna (MA 15) is now busy quantifying all contacts of the man. "We have not been able to find a single further case of illness in the manageable group," said Michael Binder, medical director of the hospital group. It has not yet been possible to determine where the 72-year-old has become infected. Binder classified his current condition as seriously ill.

A second patient was also reported at the press conference. His first coronavirus test was positive. "He is doing very well," said Binder. His clinical condition is so good that he does not need inpatient care in the hospital but is in quarantine at home. The man must have been infected in Italy. He had registered for the examination himself. A clear test result is expected later in the day.

"It was only a matter of time before there were first cases in Austria," said Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens). It was clear that Austria would remain no exception”.
