The best thing about the internet is that regardless of whatever horrific or dangerous world event happening, people still manage to make humorous shit out of it like this.

Regarding the incredible, alarming and game changing statement by the Chinese that 2019-nCoV is contagious during incubation, Michael Osterholm, the Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota said this:
"I seriously doubt the the Chinese public officials have any data supporting this statement". and then:
"I know of no evidence in 17 years of working with coronaviruses - SARS and MERS - where anyone has been found to be infectious during their incubation period."
Good thing this isn't a totally new virus or anything! And why the fuck would the Chinese lie to make things sound worse? I hope corona-chan drops this fucking brainlet.

Oh, and the fucking SPITTING too. The hacking, the gobbing of phelgm anywhere they like, in trains, in public streets, they are fucking disgusting. The folk wisdom of entire session of hack/spit/hack/spit, clearing out your mucus with great fanfare has stayed within the SE Asia diaspora too. I've heard stuff I'd rather forget in nice residential buildings coming through the walls that sounded like a fucking horror film and it was someonbe's morning 'clear my mucus out' routine. It's foul. They think spitting it into a tissue and keeping until they find a suitable receptacle is dirty, and gobbing it into the street or a floor is cleaner. That's the level of idiocy they're dealing with. Fuck, people used to let their kids dump on the floor too in mainland China, I think that may have stopped but I still recall being told about the sight of someone yanking their kids' pants down and letting them drop a turd on the floor of a restuarant carriage on a train and nobody apart from ths horrified wetserner batting a single eyelid. The horrifed westerner who actually caught full blown dysentery despite taking all the precautions he could on that trip. I mean, this was back in the day not long after they opened up, but it shows the level of dumb peasant manners and mentality they've come from not so long ago. I also recall the stories about being shown the toilet in a rural school that was a huge shed, with planks set above a large drop pit which contained six foot tall pyramids of festering human shit ... that was the early nineties.
Perhaps western society owes a great debt to her majesty Victoria I. She is much maligned but her standards of manners still proves true. One does not Spit, shit or sit on a street. What's so hard about that?

My sister is flying to visit her friend in LA and cannot be dissuaded with FACTS and LOGIC. Hopefully thus far the asymptomatic contagious aren't at a critical mass and she doesn't bring it home but I'm not an optimist at the best of times.

Even if she misses it I expect the long contagious incubation period to spread it far and wide. I know it's still up in the air as to if the incubation period is contagious but China coming out and saying something that makes the situation sound worse seems like an option of last resort to me.
I wouldn’t fly now, not for another two weeks at least.

So the appropriate public policy action is to block all travel into and out of California indefinitely. Round up any Californians found outside of California into Camps... I mean Quarantine Centers, and wait for a God to straighten the mess out? Sounds reasonable, Let’s a Build That Wall!

It would be especially strange if the Chinese were making this out worse than it actually is, unless they really wanted a case of mass hysteria on their hands and plummeting economic figures for each week this goes on.

That sounds as reasonable as my grandmas take on the situation.
I had to explain to her that there are no jews in China..

Knowingly flying to an area that has reported cases of an infections outbreak doesn't just put her at risk but also everyone she comes in contact with. She might end up picking it up while traveling to her friend and give it to them or bring it back with her on the flight back. Also I bet trying to even fly there is going to be a headache of heightened airport scrutiny, especially on the flight back. If I was her friend I wouldn't want her coming anywhere near my personal space until the outbreak has calmed down.

Up to nearly 2800 confirmed cases in China, with 461 considered serious/critical. Right now its holding just under 3% fatal with 80 casualties still. Its tracking at a >50% increase each day for the past few days.

LOOK at this thing.

Look at this cute thing.

Why the hell would you eat this cute thing? FUCK China.

Still nervous af but I'm hoping that medical resources here in the US prove to be effective against the virus, assuming it gets as bad as it is in Asia. No deaths yet outside of Asian countries so that's at least something for now.

Was about to link the article, but you found a few before I could post. Anyways, this tidbit has me more optimistically curious than anything else worth mentioning.
Hopefully the Chinese are just lying out their ass about this to try to cover up their incompetence in dealing with this “it doesn’t matter what we did, this was going to get out since we couldn’t detect it.”

No confirmed case in where I live yet, but traveling to the city is part of my job. And you know how many international travelers are in the city. So, would a mask and hand sanitizer suffice?
