The really obviously-deadly-seeming viruses suck at becoming pandemics these days. It's a shit strategy. Ebola would never be able to spread in the developed countries, because people would immediately notice the sick-as-fuck person and stay the fuck away from them, quarantine immediately and dispose of the body properly. Being non-symptomatic and mild while slowly worsening over time and the virus discretely replicating behind the scenes is scary. It's why influenza is such a fucker, it hides from the immune system by masking itself and people don't realize they have it, and then depending on the type of flu it can quickly incapacitate once it's established.

Bingo. We have no fucking idea. Any numbers coming out of China are useless, except maybe when looking into specific case studies. They aren't even testing a ton of people, because they don't have enough test kits. They're making up numbers.

Anybody know good armor? I'm looking for something airtight, while simultaneously being able to resist knife attacks and the like. Gotta be prepped for them looters and all.

What area are you in? I haven't been there for years, but I do know the southern counties fairly well (My grandparents on my mother's side lives there)

EMT buddy of mine says there are at least 5 suspected cases currently in hospitals. The whole state is making emergency preparations, it's not a drill.
 
Getting harder to keep up with the flurry of stuff appearing everywhere. That being said, IF the incubation period is 1 - 14 days, IF it can be transmitted before the human host has symptoms... regardless of how bad it is or seems to be right now... or not... say hello to the 2020 WuFlu pandemic.

This 1 is going to outrace any attempts at control & certainly be seeded all over the world before we're even close to a safe, effective vaccine.

I can only sincerely hope that for most people, it's nothing more than an annoying, heavy cold.
 
If/when this hits the illegal population in the states, things are going to get messy - not justfor the states, but our southern neighbors too. This can wreck shit in the USA, but it could wreck even more shit once it hits central/south america.

It seems like that. We don't know if that's normally the symptoms and the bloody lung shit with that Brit was something else or a very fucked up mutation. Also, if it's only fatal because of preexisting repiratory conditions like the fucked up lungs of most Chinese and their smog air.

Dude SanFran is fuuuucked. Both San Francisco and NY have direct flights out of Wuhan, it would be absurd to believe that the virus isn't already decently established there, esp given recent confirmation that people are contagious during the incubation period.

Also I stand by my earlier statement that Andrew Cuomo is ridiculously untrustworthy. NY had four suspected cases, one was confirmed negative yesterday and the other three are still under observation? They should have the test results already, they only take a day to perform. The more time that goes by, the more convinced I am that it's being massively underplayed. Big cities are fucked, and a lot of them prob aren't even aware of the virus.
 
I will say I was out in Manchester city centre yesterday, and pretty much every Oriental looking person had a mask on.

Sanfran has been fucked for a long time. This may very well rid the place of homeless with all the shit in their system making its way out onto the road, which will infect the hipster trash still living there.

I just need to live to see it.
 
Earlier, Canada held a FEDERAL level presser on our first case. He's in stable condition. Reason for federal presser in my opinion? They learned from the patient earlier today that he was already feeling ill while on the flight. You can bet he was asked that a hundred times by paramedics, intake staff, isolation staff & anyone working at that hospital... yet he waited until this morning to admit that?

So, NOW they're hurrying to contact those on his flight but assure us that unless someone was sitting right near him, there's a low risk level. Reporters aren't stupid. He & others would have walked up & down the tiny aisle, touching seat backs. Airplane bathrooms are tiny & every time I use them, there are water droplets from splashing everywhere... then there's the toilet paper roll...

Me, I'm going to be very surprised if there is not at least 1 more case off that flight - very surprised.
