Generally its the obese that this happens too, but the usual wisdom says to NOT sleep with your babies since you can roll over and suffocate them. Also they can crawl under heavy blankets and suffocate. I sleep with mine, though she's placed in a bassinet between us. Worked well enough for her older sibling.

Honestly, babies seem to have a death wish with all the ways they can kill themselves.

edit: Any future kiwi parents. The advice now is:

On their back
On a firm surface
No blankets
Clearly you don't put it in the bed with you, dumb-dumb. But baby either sleeps in a dresser drawer or a crib in the same bedroom as the birth-givers. I mean, unless one or both of those people are gay. Then is just sleeps on someone's cock.

Some silverbugs suspect the vaccine and covid were pushed on us to cull several boomers and pensioners. US social security will run out of money by 2027. Interesting timing as some, including @Drain Todger and Dr. Charles Hoffe, have reason to believe that anyone who took the mRNA vaxx are likely to die within 5 years.

In Canada, the vaccines had limited availability and a gradual rollout compared to other Western nations like the US, UK, etc. Hospital doctors and people 70+, severely immunocompromised (cancer, AIDs, rare serious autoimmune conditions, etc.), and First Nations (Native Americans/Injuns) got first dibs. Then came 60+, then 50+, then healthcare workers or those with certain health conditions 18+, and then 18+ with no restrictions. A very similar rollout happened again when the 2nd and 3rd shots were made available. 4th shots are offered to 18+ that are severely immunocompromised. 3rd shots are offered to 12+ that are severly immunocompromised. It costs public healthcare a ton of money for cancer and chronic conditions. First Nations get welfare cheques until death. The gov't can save a fuck ton of money if they were to remove these demographics. I imagine the UK and other Western nations had a similar rollout to Canada.

The problem is, this implies they care about debts instead of just having more debt.

@draintodger and the others walked that back super fucking hard. It went from likely to mostly sideeffects a handful of which will be deadly if they decide to run a marathon or other obnoxiously strenuous work.

Perhaps they instinctually know that this world's a hellhole and it's their attempt to escape ASAP.

The virus definitely wasn't, because it just wasn't lethal enough. I think over 80% of 75+ survived the original Wuhan virus (Delta was even higher and Omicron is pretty much not fatal at all), and the average age of death was about 80 years old. The vaxx might be, but if they just wanted to kill pensioners, then they wouldn't be pushing it on EVERYONE. Hell, they wouldn't even have lockdowns if they wanted to kill old people, they'd let the virus kill them as fast as possible.

The leading theory why the governments have been doing this is that it's a controlled demolition of the economy. The economy was basically fucked as of late 2019, and they seized on the Wuhan lab leak so the elite might bunker down and they can start fucking around with the fundamentals of the economy. It's likely meant to set us on course for the Great Reset. There's a few good articles that go into detail how it works, I think there's one in this thread a few dozen pages back and I think another in the Global Depression thread here.

The irony of using the tweet using that Captain America GIF is that Steve Rogers would be on the anti-mandate side. Despite all the flashy CGI and quirky writing, there are moments in MCU films that can make audiences think. Such as this pivotal scene from The Winter Soldier.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=_AUs3J995Fc:131
In current Marvel comics Captain America is generally portrayed as a well-meaning but out of touch character who needs to give up the idea of ‘America’ and become some kind of rainbow fighter for troon justice or something. Idk, they made him a Nazi and the whole thing was really cringe.

Luckily they knew that shit wouldn’t fly in the movies and made him into a good character.

I wish these were potato quality so Null's site could handle them. Really interesting part 2 (I started watching that one first). Buffering! Buffering!

Edit: @awoo Yes, you're right, it's just it was so nicely spoon-fed to me here, and some days I don't always want to go re-looking things up again. I am just complaining about the site, hopefully Null gets the bandwidth upgrade soon. I could also just right click and save the video file, then wait until it's all downloaded, and then watch it. I was just REEEing in a moment of weakness.

Balls, I was hoping those clips wouldn't strangle the forum -- believe it or not, what I uploaded was already a 75% reduction in filesize vs the original download! Have you noticed if there's a pattern in what filesize a clip goes from "runs ok" to "Remember <buffering> Real <buffering> Player?" for you? If there is, maybe I can target that instead of the hard cap of 200 megs/file.

I'm starting to notice articles about how to "prevent" COVID-19 popping up here and there. I guess they realized they can't milk the shit out of COVID anymore.

First there was an article about how drinking wine/champagne could reduce it (Archive: https://archive.md/P1XYo )

My drinking habit is vindicated! :drink:

And the Gateway Pundit posted some stuffs on the vaccine then Project Veritas mentionned.

Remember the incident mentioned on this thread last fall where a bunch of kids and some adults too got wildly incorrect doses? I wonder if this is the same clusterfuck. Either way, I suppose it explains how the doses were getting screwed up -- they're not shipping them in premeasured units after all.

Drinking liquor makes you more likely to become sick? Lies, I drink lots of vodka and sometimes rum and have yet to get the virus. LMAO, which wine association paid for this?

The real solution here is to mix cocktails that include vermouth - now you get liquor and wine. :cunningpepe:

USA CoVax Mandate Legal News Roundup -- Massholes And Military Edition

The DoD has temporarily halted their vaccine mandate for civilian employees in the wake of last week's injunction on the vaccine mandate for direct federal employees. (Archive)

The Defense Department is pausing its processing of exemption requests or disciplinary actions for civilian employees who are still not vaccinated against COVID-19, the Pentagon has confirmed, as a federal lawsuit continues to play out.
DoD has not yet released its policy for firing or otherwise disciplining any of its 950,000 civilian employees who refuse to be vaccinated, though exemption requests have been processed.

Boston city employees get a reprieve, as Mayor Wu's mandate is now under an injunction. (Archive) This is one of the first wins, however small, against a mandate in MA, I believe.

A Massachusetts appeals court has temporarily blocked Boston Mayor Michelle Wu's mandate that city employees be vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the month or face being placed on unpaid leave.
A Suffolk Superior Court judge had previously rejected a request by the police and firefighter unions to overturn the order. But Appeals Court Associate Justice Sabita Singh temporarily put that ruling on hold Thursday while the court reviews the union's appeal.

Though Oklahoma lost their challenge against the mandate for the National Guard, Texas is fighting on -- and they've received reinforcement, as Alaska has joined their revised lawsuit. (Archive)

Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R) has joined Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's (R) lawsuit to block President Biden and the Department of Defense from enforcing a vaccine mandate for the National Guard, his office announced Thursday.
"There has long been a clear and distinct line between when National Guardsmen are governed by state authority and when they are governed by federal authority. When National Guardsmen are serving the State, the federal government has no command authority," the lawsuit states.

As such the governors believe the federal vaccine mandate "usurps state sovereignty," per the press release.

Everyone's going on about how the pandemic changed things but I can't help but notice that it can't seem to change inefficient 3rd world bureaucracy. I went to submit 2 full reams of documents that I spent the past 3 days printing to our tax bureau.

I get an email:
"Oh, you didn't comply to these submissions going back YEARS."

"I totally had those filed and paid, WTF are you going on about tax man!? I have all these emails confirming that I did."

"You do? Great! Print all that shit and submit it at your district office."

"Can I just forward it to you?"

"No, print that shit and give it to us so we can painstakingly read through it."

At least they didn't care if I took the retard juice.

This is too much. I am immediately unfollowing the science denying addlepates that call themselves the "Swedish National Health Agency" and I encourage everyone to do the same. They are peddling dangerous misinformation that will result in unnecessary deaths and I hope their license is revoked and they are cancelled!

More and more european countries ditch any and all Coof restrictions.
Not Germany, though. Here they're still trying to come up with reasons why we need a vaccine mandate (beyond the obvious "BioNtech is a german company and lots of people have stocks in them) and why we can't ever open anything.

I guess some discovered then BioNtech is a (((german))) company. :story:

Btw, here a interesting rant.

Doctors are starting to challenge the dominant COVID paradigms

By Andrea Widburg

Over the last two years of living in Fauci’s America, most of the medical establishment has meekly gone along with the narrative about COVID treatments and vaccines. Regardless of their motives, they’ve accepted that there are no treatments and that masks and vaccines are imperative for everyone two and older. Any doctor who deviated from that script was stigmatized and risked losing his or her license and livelihood. Now, though, mainstream doctors are starting to speak out against the lockdown and mask rules and even against the vaccine regime.
In medical circles, the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is one of the most prestigious medical schools and hospitals in America. Attending or working at UCSF carries with it tremendous cachet. “You must be good,” is what springs to people’s minds when they hear those letters. That’s why it matters that four UCSF doctors, including the director of the COVID response for the emergency department, are pushing back against California governor Gavin Newsom’s “mindless” COVID rules in schools.
The four doctors and one nurse opened their petition by noting that California exists under the most restrictive COVID regulations in the country, policies that continue even though California is highly vaccinated and has low hospitalization rates. California’s policies, they say, are lagging reality and “have caused considerable collateral damage throughout the pandemic, have long lost their justification as necessary for prevention of serious illness and death.”

They note that the policies are driving people out of California and are especially worried about the toll on children and teens. They offer a list of 17 action items for Newsom, many of which really ask him to apologize for what he’s done to California’s children. Here’s my abridged version of the list:
1. Stop forcing vaccine mandates, especially boosters for children.
2. Admit that vaccinating children doesn’t necessarily help children.
3. Start giving people a reward (loosening restrictions) for going along with the vaccine regime.
4. Acknowledge that children are at less risk than adults and that the messaging has been really bad.
5. Admit that the restrictions are worse for children than the illness.
6. Acknowledge that social isolation is devastating young people.
7. Admit that not seeing the faces of teachers and peers is killing education.
8. Stop forcing kids to wear masks outdoors.
9. Make indoor masks for kids optional as of February 2022.
10. Acknowledge that babies and toddlers aren’t learning to speak because of masks.
11. Allow preschool and daycare teachers and other adults to stop wearing masks if they want.
12. Stop mindlessly testing asymptomatic individuals.
13. Stop the madness on college campuses given young people’s low risks.
14. Stop obsessing about case rates.
15. Acknowledge that Omicron is relatively mild.
16. Acknowledge that “true COVID-19 hospitalizations” remain low, so the panic must end.
17. Do a cost-benefit analysis of all the COVID restrictions.
Every one of those is a sensible suggestion and one that conservatives have been making for months, if not years.
The UCSF doctors who wrote that petition are not the only doctors finally speaking up. Another UCSF doctor, Monica Gandhi, along with Dr. Paul Offit, the director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and a member of the FDA vaccine advisory committee, both told David Zweig, who posted at Bari Weiss’s Substack account, that the risk of boosters for young males outweighs the benefits.
Only America is enthusiastically embracing boosters for young people. Also, many other countries recognize natural immunity:
Monica Gandhi, a doctor and an infectious-disease specialist at the University of California, San Francisco, was blunt in her assessment. “I am not giving my 12 and 14-year-old boys boosters,” she told me.
Dr. Gandhi is not the only expert to publicly state an intention to not comply with the CDC’s recommendation. Dr. Paul Offit is the director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a member of the FDA’s vaccine advisory committee, and is considered one the country’s top authorities on pediatric vaccine policy. He recently said that getting boosted would not be worth the risk for the average healthy 17-year-old boy, and he advised his son, who is in his 20s, not to get a third dose.
The whole article is interesting but what’s most interesting to me is that at least a few mainstream doctors are overcoming their paralyzing fear of offending leftist dogma and are telling the truth about COVID extremism in America.

Just don't do what papa Hitler did and remove yourself from existing (in Germany and go to Argentina) I'll miss you if you did.

The Victorian premier, Daniel Andrews, on Thursday conceded there was “not very much contract tracing going on” in the state, with the Service Victoria app now largely used to show proof of vaccination where necessary.

Asked whether there would be any changes to Victoria’s QR system, Andrews replied they were here to stay for “as long as the experts tell us they serve a purpose”.

The stated rationale for QR code check-ins was to help contact tracers keep track of infected people. It's not that there's "not very much contact tracing going on" in Victoria there is no fucking contact tracing going on in Victoria. But we will still be having QR check-ins for the foreseeable future because experts.

Why?

The University of South Australia epidemiologist Adrian Esterman said while there were limits to the use of QR codes for now, it was important to keep the infrastructure in place.

“When you start getting into the hundreds of cases and even worse, thousands of cases, there’s no contact tracing in the world that can manage ... by the time that you get notified you’re a close contact, it’s probably a week late and you’ve already had the infection and you’ve recovered,” he told the Guardian.

“It is simply not needed unless we get down to sufficiently low case numbers that contact tracers can actually use the information. Until then, QR codes are pretty useless unless they are used for entry where they check your vaccine status.”

At the peak of Omicron we had hundreds of thousands of infections per day. This expert thinks they're totally pointless.

“If we say that people don’t bother to use QR codes, what happens when the next variant comes along and potentially it could be useful then?” he said.

“QR codes are a bit like wearing a face mask, they should really be ubiquitous, you simply just get used to doing it.”

However the same expert says we should still keep the system just in case a more deadly variant comes along. A more deadly variant that can out compete Omicron will lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, scanning a QR code before going into the supermarket will definitely be a priority in such a scenario.

Similar to masks, vaxx passes and mandates this is an imposition they seem determined to keep permanently. Like the laws brought in after the twin towers fell we will simply have to get used to the new normal well after the reasons for passing the laws are no longer existent let alone pressing.

Meantime Dan has announced that he wants fully vaccinated to mean getting the booster, the federal government haven't agreed to this yet, likely because the booster uptake has been pretty shitty so far and there's an election coming up.

I may have mentioned 6 months ago that getting on the vaccine train means never getting off. When the vaccines were first brought in we were told that 1 jab would probably be enough to immunise us against Covid. Then it was 2. Then it was 3 for the immune compromised. Then it was a booster 6 months after the second dose for boomers. Then it was a booster for everyone. Then it was a booster after 3 months for everyone. To maintain the prized full vaxxed status nigger cattle will soon be asked to get a 4th booster and then another 3 shot regime when Pfizer brings out their Omicron vaccine, by which time another variant will be with us.

They don't even try to argue anymore that the 'vaccines' do what vaccines are supposed to do, stop you catching a virus that causes disease. No we must get vaccinated to prevent us ending up in hospital from a virus that's a fucking common cold. My missus works casual shifts at a local nursing home. Apart from losing almost all their staff at one point because they had to go and self isolate when Covid ran through them she has seen Omicron in action when it infects the most vulnerable section of our community, the very old and very frail. So what happens when Omicron Covid sweeps through a nursing home infecting all the residents? Surely a giant mass die off? Well apparently not. Most of them got a sore throat and runny nose for a few days. Some had body aches and a few got the shits. Not a single one of them suffered severe illness, even the ones on oxygen with end stage heart failure. None of them died. Not a single one of them. Now to be fair most of them had been double jabbed and boosted but a few hadn't received the vaccine at all and there was no difference in disease. Covid is the common cold, if anyone is too dumb to see that then I don't know what to tell them except they must really enjoy being kicked in the face by their government.

Can someone explain to me the basic reproduction number? It's said that Omicron is supposed to have an R0 of like 20, like Measles, but here in Germany the rolling 7-day average of the R number is still below 1.2. It never went above 1.47, and that was a spike in June 2020.
Are those different R numbers? Why do we get massive growth in our infection numbers, but it doesn't show in the R value?

We need to be careful when comparing case numbers to infections, just like we have to be careful when comparing died of to died with.
In both cases one is a smaller sub group of the other. In the case of Omicron Covid way smaller.

To answer your question the R0 is an estimate of the number of people who will be infected by one person assuming complete nativity to a virus. Even with novel zoonotic viruses there is always substantial cross immunity in a population from exposure to similar viruses in the past, eg endemic flus and coronaviruses.

The real number which is supposed to guide public health policies is the Rt, which takes the intrinsic transmission potential of a virus but then accounts for things like natural immunity, vaccination and cross immunity in a population. The Rt will always be lower than the R0. They're often confused but they're not the same. For example the R0 of measles is around 13 (or higher depending on the study) but the Rt was always vastly lower because in the past most people had natural immunity and now have been vaccinated.

Anyway what you're seeing in the case numbers is the R value itself across time.

We really are at the point where “science” has become a cult. They worship “experts” who are in many ways worse than corrupt priests because they know their beliefs are lies and the truth is the exact opposite of what they say. At least with religion there’s no way to prove it wrong. With science: it can be proven wrong with actual objective research and studies, but they intentionally stifle this.
Have to say the past 3 years have confirmed something I suspected for a while before then. All the excesses of religious institutions people liked to bitch about were and are humanity's problem and way less of a Christianity problem.

The same people who bitch about the past abusive behavior of Christians are primarily the people doing this shit now and in some cases are engaging in worse behavior.
