If you don’t let it in, it don’t get in. Fatalism is just a cope for incompetence.
Japan was doing a bang-up job of stopping it at the points of entry it controlled. There was no super-deadly Unicron in Japan for over a month after it appeared and went through just about everyplace else on the globe, including remote research stations in fucking Antarctica (
Dec 14th), before jarheads brought it to Japan (
17 Dec).
Some choice quotes from the article—
“All of the individuals flew to Kadena Air Base directly from the United States under a planned troop deployment to Okinawa.” (and apparently no one tested or isolated them, either in the US or upon arrival, from the allegedly super-deadly super-serious ‘ronies).
“On Dec. 17, prefectural government officials asked the U.S. military to conduct a genome analysis of those infected to determine if any of the individuals had the Omicron variant. But U.S. officials said they did not have the necessary equipment to conduct such tests in Okinawa, adding that if they deemed such tests were necessary they would have to be performed in the United States.”
“Okinawa prefectural government officials offered to conduct the genome analysis, but U.S. officials refused on grounds that personal information had to be protected.”
That last bit is especially tasty, considering how eager the bases are to throw their own people under the bus if they think it will make them look good on the Japanese evening news.
Japanese people think that the US sent infected jarheads on purpose. I find it difficult to disagree.
