I could imagine that - like Brexit - this backfires when the common people end up sympathizing with the rough-sounding individual.
There is a reason left-leaning media outlets in the U.S. use "principled conservatives" like Jennifer Rubin as their token right-leaning guest commentators.
Everytime I see one of these rants (Howard Stern included) I wish I could be there in person to dismissingly say "okay, boomer".

Me too. But think of yourself as having improved having come this far. You have hopefully learned the value of things you took for granted. You now know exactly what's at stake in this world and exactly how godawful and rotten the system is. You now know that the Democrats and any similar political party must be treated as vile extremists, spoken of in the same way as the Nazi Party or ruling parties of communist dictatorships. You now know just how worthless your government is at keeping you and your family safe. You now know that many of your fellow citizens are worthless sheep who won't hesitate to turn you in. You now know 10-20% of this country is straight up evil and wants you in a death camp.
It's up to you to use this knowledge to improve your life and teach as many people as you can.

Things are getting weird. I live in what was the most Covidian place on the planet. The messaging is unchanged, get boosted, work mandates and vaxx passes for everything. The reality is the complete opposite. No one checks your papers anymore, employers are paying lip service to the mandates and there are zero restrictions except pointless mask rules. The government is saying they will bring in mass rapid tests for work and schools but no one can seem to get their hands on them. Maybe a month from now they'll start handing them out except in a couple of weeks Covid will all but disappear as we're obviously close to herd immunity.
Everyone I know has caught and recovered from Covid, every single person except me. General consensus when talk of vaccines comes up is that they're useless and that Covid is a shitty cold. But turn on the TV and it's wall to wall fear porn with breathless discussion of overflowing Covid wards and mass deaths. My missus, who has for the past two years considered my anti vaxx views ridiculous is now red pilled and screams at the talking heads when they talk about hospitals. "I work in a Covid ward motherfucker and all I do is prick the fingers of fat pacific islanders and check my phone." The code brown nonsense sent her over the edge. Hold on? We were screaming for staff a couple of weeks ago when everyone had to go off sick for a week when they caught the sniffles, but now everyone's back at work NOW they call a code brown?? Yes dear it's the government, what did you expect?
I think they were hoping that the Omicrons was at least somewhat deadly, maybe the same death rate as the flu. They could run with that, sell it to the masses when nursing home patients and deathfats started to die from it but alas it turned out to be just about the mildest cold in history and they seem to be at a loss in how to respond. All their carefully laid plans for a social credit system, a top down surveillance state with chipped nigger cattle, a great economic reset where we will own nothing, live in pods and eat bug paste to stop climate change, all those plans gone up in smoke because some South African lab worker didn't wash his hands. Ah well better luck next time.

Does anyone find it strange that OG covid and Delta didn't rip through the world like Omicron did? During/just after Delta, most of the restrictions were relaxed, no lockdowns, no masks (in the UK) most people double-jabbed and the cases were so/so. Now omicron came along, with masks and restrictions in place, with most people double-jabbed and boosted, and it just went through the population like wildfire.
I'm not talking the high case numbers - that's because everyone went mental on testing everyone with the sniffles, but i heard very few people say they had caught covid up until Omicron, now every man and their dog has it.
How is that?
