The leak of the speech on the TR was the only reason Modly had to go.It's interesting how Trump handled the Crozier/Modly spat

'I hate seeing bad things happen': Trump approves of Navy secretary's resignation, says it's a 'really unselfish thing'
"He made a mistake, but he had a bad day," Trump said of Capt. Brett Crozier. "I hate seeing bad things happen, man made a mistake."www.businessinsider.com
Couldn't put it better myself really. Crozier screwed up by circulating the letter outside the chain of command but 'he'd had a bad day'. Trump wouldn't have fired Modly but he did commend him for his 'really unselfish act' in stepping down.
USNI article with captures of all the resignation letters

UPDATED: Modly Resigns Amidst Carrier Roosevelt Controversy; Army Undersecretary to Serve as Acting SECNAV - USNI News
This post has been updated to include Thomas Modly’s resignation letter and reactions from members of Congress. Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly has resigned from his post after a day and a half of widespread criticism surrounding the removal of the commander of an aircraft carrier that...news.usni.org

This is actually a really interesting situation - those sailors applauding Crozier seemed to imply that, horror of horrors, a mutiny wasn't out of the question. Clearly, Modly had to go. Especially after this speech.
They should do some Starship Troopers shit like have Modly's replacement bust Crozier down to private for leaking the letter and tipping the Bugs off to a possible military weakness but then putting him back in charge of the ship because he's shown he cares about his men. Which, looking at it, means they'd have to make him a Captain again.

The Trump administration and the GOP would have us get sick and die while they profit off of tax dollars.
Want to know how it works?
1.) Eliminate oversight of the spending of nearly a trillion dollars of tax dollars: https://thehill.com/regulation/cour...lus-opens-new-front-in-trumps-oversight-fight
2.) Aquire the authority to command which businesses get which contracts: https://youtu.be/MlQx7Qs2ACI
3.) Have trusted people stand up companies through which the money can be funneled (3 week old company, founded through a loan approved via the Coronavirus Stimulus bill, is now the center of medical supply distribution): https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/27/republican-fundraiser-company-coronavirus-152184 “I don’t want to overstate, but we probably represent the largest global supply chain for Covid-19 supplies right now,” he said. “We are getting ready to fill 100 million-unit mask orders.”
4.) Have the federal government sell, at a reduced price, it’s strategic stockpile to the new companies, run by your buddies: https://twitter.com/DavidBegnaud/status/1245841458323771393
5.) Have the states bid on the supplies, driving up the price: https://youtu.be/2zeEUs7tcpE
6.) Have the federal government spend taxpayer dollars to ship supplies purchased from China to these brand new private companies: https://www.npr.org/sections/corona...witter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_term=nprnews
7.) Eliminate the competition. Attack any company that doesn’t play ball. https://mothership.sg/2020/04/trump-3m-10-million-masks/
Edit 2: electric boogaloo
Congress and the Supreme Court aren’t going to do shit. Neither is Biden or the DNC. We need another Battle of Athens.
Fun fact: the position with the highest constitutional power is your county sheriff. They have the ability to block feds from entering and leaving the county. A few did this back during the whole “extraordinary rendition” thing whenever that was.
I would pen an email, letter and call to your county sheriff citing sources and your concerns of the feds taking your hospitals supplies. I just thought of this replying to you and I will be doing this tomorrow. We need sheriffs and deputies guarding our hospitals from the feds.

Anyone here want to try and give an opposing opinion? This made it to the top of /r/bestof
Indeed. I don't know how they did it, but even when I make new accounts it appears to be shadow banned and/or comments I make are selectively shadow banned to make me look bad. It's bizarre and scary. The person you argue against says whatever they want, but then my rebuttal with cited sources somehow is only visible when logged in to my account; after which the jerkoff redditor that was demanding proof gets to post something like: "See they never even responded, what a fucking joke!"Anyone here want to try and give an opposing opinion? Lol, wtf are you smoking - are you really suggesting someone to try to say something not aligning with "the orange man bad" ideology on plebbit of all places. That site has no free speech and has only sodomites, commies and trannies left. Also your reddit is showing - what normal person uses 2 line breaks after each sentence?
A random redditor is no better or worse than an accredited journalist. It's good discussion.I like how this thread is down to discussing random redditors opinions on all this and treating them as news. Some of you guys really need a break.

The Neo-Liberal elites HATE calling attention to poverty unless they can tie it back to intersectional bullshit. Keeping the poors divided and angry at each other keeps them from realizing that they’ve been screwed by globalization.A good part of it will be weight, high blood pressure and poverty. But it’s possibly there’s a genetic influence on susceptibility. People living in poverty are hit harder by most diseases. I find it interesting that we are strongly discouraged from looking at poverty unless it’s through a lens of intersectionality. It’s much more uncomfortable (and much more valuable) to look at why people are poor, than be on about it simply being racism. Screaming white supremacy doesn’t solve anything, but looking at poverty is important.
We dont know who the weak are. Weak in terms of susceptibility to something like this isn’t purely old and doddery. There will be young, apparently strong people who die. You wanna roll those dice?
Yeah, lockdown will kill. Ive already seen one serious breakdown. Lockdown needs to be a final resort measure, and lifted ASAP.
You can also tell the dude has never operated in a business environment or in any situation that requires deal making. You can always make a deal, even if there's a written contract. Doesn't mean it will be a successful negotiation, but you can always talk to a person and try to work something out; hence the importance and value of personal relationships. This guy didn't wear the fucking tinfoil, he sniffed it, smoked it and shot it straight to his veins with a needle. Jesus H Christ almighty. Most of what he talked about was just regular bureaucratic fuckups. As for taking the PPE. I fucking wish my gov had temporarily nationalized this shit back when it was necessary but they were too busy screeching about comunism until it was too late because they're fucking idiots.
@Joseph Stalin assuming malice is behind the lockdowns is unwise. The WHO is plenty malicious. But the lockdowns aren't, not for most countries. Although some of the people pushing for them are. Thing is, in high density areas they are NEEDED to keep the healthcare system from overloading, and the same goes for areas with insufficient healthcare systems. Issue is they're being horridly misapplied to areas that don't need them and certain assholes are trying to turn them into a tool against Trump and Japan, but it's not about keeping people down or treating them like animals. As always, it's about idiots misapplying treatments and blaming other people for their woes without caring about the truth. As they say, no words are scarier than "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."
Can't we just let the weak and elderly die and move on?
It's a faster insurance payout than auto insurance. Finally got my State unemployment gibs. First time in my life I ever did that, so was an adventure. It's a reassuring that the wheels of beaurocracry are still turning though.
EU fails to forge a joint response. Spain and Italy absolutely livid. This may actually turn out to be a death blow to the European experiment.

*Maybe just a little freedom requirement for your citizens. If you fancy joining us in the cool kids club we'll sign a nice trade deal with no political bullshit added....

There's nothing he said that's terribly wrong. Just look at how some of these state, county, and city governments have rushed to put in draconian measures like banning sales of weapons and ammo. Northam in Virginia surely didn't waste this disaster.@Joseph Stalin assuming malice is behind the lockdowns is unwise. The WHO is plenty malicious. But the lockdowns aren't, not for most countries.
