I don't see the reason to shut down the world over something that has a 99% survival rate.
No you see we need to eradicate Coronavirus despite Coronavirus apparently displacing the flu and Coronavirus having a mortality curve more benign than the flu because it doesn't affect the very young because Coronavirus is very terrible and shut up or you will kill grandma.
And also the Chinese totally did it with lockdowns and welding shut apartment doors and please disregard that the Japanese Ministry of Health is saying they're still pulling Coronavirus infected people from flights originating in China during a time frame when China claims they had no infections because China would never lie and China is strong and numba one.

Also please disregard how mask mandates and lockdowns didn't work the first time and a bunch of Third World places did really brutal locksdowns where the military and police beat people to a pulp for leaving their homes but like Socialism this time it will totally work and if it doesn't it just was because the lockdowns and mask mandates were not far reaching and harsh enough and Japan and Sweden are actually empty wastelands bereft of human habitation now.

Quick update from France : our President announced a new lockdown last night, meaning all non-essential businesses are asked to close once again along with borders until December 1, you will need a paper permission to step foot outside again etc.

Schools (but not unis) will remain open along with jobs that cannot be done from home.

Otherwise, you are allowed outside for one hour in a one kilometre radius from your home as long as you bring a paper slip.

Parisians have already started roleplaying the Exodus of 1940 to the point where the railroad website crashed.

text means : « traffic jam ahead »

A lot of restaurant and bar owners are angry, and don’t think they can survive another month of lockdown, especially since they were already asked to invest in sanitary measures. Same goes for the entertainment world (theatre, cinema) and gyms.

Guess we’ll see how this one goes.

Starting Monday we get:
- Contact limited to two households and max. ten people.
- Restaurants closed until end of November, excempt are cafeterias and delivery
- Theater, opera, concerts, amateur sports and gyms are closed until end of November
- Cosmetic salons, massage parlors, tattoo studios closed until end of November, hairdressers open with strict rules
- Stores are open, but restricted to somehow one customer per 10 m², meaning that small stores will basically close
- professional sports without audiences
- Schools and kindergartens open

So no band rehearsal and no gym. Guess I gotta go running and do pull-ups and push-ups at home like an animal again.

I thought America had it bad, but it sounds like a ton of other countries are just getting decimated right now.

My heart goes out to you. Its nuts.

If my area starts heavily quarantining again, I'm glad I'll have you fuckers to keep me company.

Is there really an endgame to any of this madness? If the virus is here to stay, why try so hard to "eradicate" it if it can't be eradicated?

If the vaccine won't be a "magic bullet," why are we waiting for a vaccine?

None of this makes any sense to a free-thinking autist like me.

When the CDC guy said that masks are more important than a vaccine, I sat there asking myself "Then what the fuck is the point of having a vaccine and why are we waiting for it?"

It really does make no sense, and it hurts me to see so many people going along with it.

Here were some gems from recent Facebook posts from my friends and family:

"Even after COVID is over, they should start requiring masks for kids at school"
"Don't feel bad that your holidays are spent inside and alone. The sacrifice you make now has saved lives"
"My husband came in to contact with someone that tested positive, so we're sleeping in different rooms now. We're doing our part!"

And scariest of all, there was a sign outside my local gas station that said "Put on your mask! Its the Law!". I can't believe we've gotten to this point.

It's been pretty obvious to anyone paying attention that they are rolling out a full on lockdown for xmas. Bongland.

The more the people disbelieve. The more the cases go up.

Someone saw a golden opportunity here to fuck about with and control the mass population, maybe do a bit of 'destroy, rebuild, profit' as well.

It's here. I for one will be telling them to fuck off, even under pain of imprisonment. I don't particularly like my folks, but they're all I've got. We are already making plans for disobedience. Will they throw those already on their death bed in to jail? I fucking doubt it.

They overplayed their hand on this one. My folks are super pissed off they can not get normal medical care all because of Corona. They see it as the excuse it is. A few months back they were all on board and in line with the party directives. Now? Not so much. Fucking boomers are revolting.

It's best not to ask the question of 'why are they doing this?'.

The answers are too painful.

It's happening. Whether you like it or not. And soon you will have to answer to the police or the army (they have brought them in, in the UK to control the people).

It's getting almost impossible to see a doctor these days. All because of this plague that is ravaging the land.

Something is going on. Not figured out what it is yet. But not good, I don't think.

By "plague" you mean "politicians and COVID-1984 doomers", right, because that's by far the worst plague going around these days.
One day from the moment of truth, the day we can determine how many people are truly buying into this or not.
I think the Fourth of July showed that pretty well since people defied all the exceptional laws to shoot off fireworks and grill, even in places like Los Angeles where normally you aren't even allowed to shoot off fireworks.

I believe it's only gotten worse since then unfortunately. The longer this insanity has gone on the more people have gotten brainwashed or have otherwise just given up and accepted the "new normal" existence. On top of that remember the 4th was right in the middle of the initial riot fiasco so people were more inclined to show off their love for their country.

That and back then there weren't as many genuine consequences for rebelling nor was there a real threat of more full lockdowns as we're seeing cropping up everywhere again now. Much has changed in just a mere few months. Far, far too much...

Halloween is a bigger deal because everyone's huddled together walking down sidewalks and going to dozens of strangers' homes.

And fucking sparklers are banned here in Boston but people shoot off fireworks every year anyway. (thanks New Hampshire)

National lockdown next week: Boris Johnson bows to scientific advisers and is set to order new nationwide coronavirus restrictions 'closing all but essential shops and schools from Wednesday until December 1'

  • Scientists from the Sage committee presented No 10 with bleak figures showing pace of Covid-19's spread
  • Cabinet source told Mail that the move to place country back in lockdown will be announced next week
  • Government now faces a critical weekend to determine the shape of the measures before an announcement
  • The Prime Minister and Chancellor Rishi Sunak are said to have agonised over the decision
  • Scientists – backed by Matt Hancock and Michael Gove – said virus was on track to kill 85,000 this winter

Whatevs. Still going to go see my folks this xmas.

I'm just looking forward to the point where healthy people snap.

I'm old and sick and can't pull that shit any more. But let's see what the young fuckers are made of.
