The California governor didn't go through with the statewide beach lockdown - maybe due to the amount of internet outrage over the leaked announcement and the discussion about riots! He claims the beach shutdown memo was sent out without his approval and he is only shutting down one county's beaches (Orange County). Thanks be to whatever gods were watching out for us today.

There are rumors flying in my industry that NY's Cuomo is going to announce that he will not be extending many of the orders he signed during the lockdown that expire on May 15 and that they're going to reclassify many industries and workers as "essential."

Probably because it will classify many as non-essential and then it'll be off to the gas chambers for them.
No, even worse.

"You are deemed an essential employee slave, you do not get to call off, go on vacation or take sick leave during times of emergency."

Michigan, USA

(Crosspost from the megathread)

Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has defied the legislature's attempts to terminate our state of emergency, and declared a new state of emergency.

Mlive said:
The first of the three orders terminates the existing state of emergency and disaster declarations, and the second asserts that Michigan remains under a state of emergency under the Emergency Powers of the Governor Act of 1945.
The final order declares a new state of emergency and disaster under the Emergency Management Act of 1976. The new orders would run through 11:59 p.m. May 28.

This is almost certainly going to court.

Today he relented and backed off from saying he would not reopen nonessential businesses til and unless school reopened. He now says schools are closed til fall, but the Regional Phased reopening plans are still in effect.

He will pivot and back down from stuff, which is good. At this time no nonessential office or retail can open before the end of May under the Phase II requirements, but there is every chance he may see how things go in the states opening now and walk that back by the 15th to let things open sooner.

Apparently three counties in CA have re-opened against state orders. They're Modoc County (no cases) and Sutter and Yuba County (1 death and 3 deaths respectively with one person currently in the hospital).

I bet they'll be receiving a nice gift of blankets from Gavin soon.

From what I hear the New York State Southern Tier Counties aren’t far behind those rural Cali ones. Their case numbers are in low single digits. Some have 0deaths. And their hospitals are laying off staff. They’ve sure as shit don’t want to wait another 2 weeks for Cuomo to decide whether they deserve freedom based on NYC’s fuck ups. The County Leaders know that even if there is a Federal Bailout for States, none of that would ever go to them.

June SAT got cancelled. Christ, I'm so glad I'm not in high school right now.

MO is open today, But Gov Parsons gave the counties the right to extend their lockdowns. St. Louis county and the City of St. Louis have indefinite lockdowns with the heads of both saying they'll reexamine the situation in the middle of may. Nearby St. Charles is open and the karens are out screaming about how deadly that is. rumors ar eflying that the original plan was to keep us closed until June but there's a slow swarm of people complaining about losing their jobs and businesses permanently.

Well, New Zealand's lockdowns under Horseface Arden were amazingly autistic.
This is the consequence :
But, in response to a question about the country's tourism sector, Ms Ardern said: "We will not have open borders for the rest of the world for a long time to come."
Tourism is one of New Zealand's biggest industries, directly employing almost 10% of the country's workforce, and contributing almost 6% of GDP.

Now this brainless horseface is bootlicking Australia, trying to con Australia into a "Trans Tasman Bubble". Basically "Please help us and stay in lockdown too, ruin yourself with us". Our PM will be dumb enough to fall for this, no doubt.

NZ has had only a small number of cases and yet, is still in a Level 3 lockdown. She went too hard, too early and she's fucked her country into the ground. This is why no one should ever lock down. She's truly the world's greatest idiot.

Remember this for when the electoral college argument kicks in again.

Remember what these big cities are doing to the counties that have no representation in their governments and no chance to not vote in somebody that The capital doesn't want.
