For fuck's sake, are we just supposed to shut everything down whenever there's a glorified flu season from now on?

We're already in the midst of a nasty recession, do these people want another depression to happen soon?
Yes. this time it's not a depression because the market was poorly regulated but a depression that was artificially created to crash and burn because we can't keep Orange Man around.

My uncle got my aunt Tony Bennett tickets for Christmas. The concert was in March and was delayed until July. Now The concert has been rescheduled for March 2021. Tony is already 93. He will be 94 when his tour resumes.

Instead of doing this can't we just tell grandma and cancer patients to stay home? We can't keep shutting things down every time there is another surge. There are no bodies in the streets. I know it's really bad for at risk people. But everyone else is suffering too because of these lockdowns.

Gov. Jay Inslee and state Secretary of Health John Wiesman announced Saturday that, due to “significant rebounds in COVID-19 activity,” Washington is putting a pause on approving counties hoping to move to the fourth phase of the governor’s reopening plan.

“Phase 4 would mean a return to normal activity and we can’t do that now due to the continued rise in cases across the state,” Inslee said in the statement. “We all want to get back to doing all the things we love in Washington during the summer, and fully open our economy, but we aren’t there yet. This is an evolving situation and we will continue to make decisions based on the data.”

There was never a Phase 4....

I'd say maybe fourth of july is what gets people to crack and truly disobey en masse to watch fireworks, but my thoughts resemble a Linkin Park song by now.
I thought it would too, but the riots helped blow off enough steam for a lot of people and in the past two months people have been ignoring the orders and taking full advantage of the lifting of orders so that's more tension defused.

But yes, people are absolutely going to watch fireworks and have some epic parties this year, at least in/near states that aren't freedom-hating shitholes and let you buy fireworks. I expect the rules to be thoroughly ignored.

The hell is this prohibition-lite bullshit? Why are these assholes so intent on making everyone as miserable as possible?
It's actually going to happen, isn't it...
If this mommy government power trip engenders the American government to raise the drinking age in the name of "safety" right before I'm finally old enough to legally drink the happy juice this fall I swear to god. I need it more than ever now.

They aren't banning drink alcohol, just drinking at bars.

Speaking of which, California is the latest state to shut down the bars. Remember that the Republic of Korea reopened bars, only to have test-and-trace hundreds of people after one patron got the coronavirus; so I think it's like the bars are stay closed for a little while longer.

The Texas Bar and Nightclub Alliance is suing the state for its most recent shutdown.

July 1st is Canada Day in, well, Canada; and, of course, July 4th is the USA's Independence Day. How will these days be celebrated?

In Canada, various virtual events will be held in lieu of in-person celebrations. There will virtual concerts and prerecorded shows. One guy is planning a firework show, but isn't telling about where it is, so a crowd won't form around it.

In the USA, Arlington, TX is cancelling its Independence Parade for the first time ever. Portland, ME is replacing its fireworks show with a virual concert. Fireworks have also be cancelled in Southern California, where the American Pyrotechnics Association Executive Director says "due to social distancing mandates related to COVID-19, the skies will be dark above the vast majority of cities, towns and municipalities.”

Fan-fucking-tastic, can't celebrate America's birthday, but burning down her cities is considered kosher.

The hypocrisy and double standards of the "experts" handling these lockdowns never ceases to astound me.

LA County is shutting down the beaches for the weekend of July 4th. The LA County sheriff says he was not consulted and his men will not be enforcing closure of the beach sand (but will police the streets and enforce parking lot closures).
