Unsurprising.
Honestly, when I heard "sketchers united" I thought it was a marketing stunt made by the shoe brand "Skechers". Would've been more interesting than what we got here.
Anyway, this comes off as unsurprising to me. In order to have strong moderation the owner needs to be level headed. The adult in the room that can respond to any situation. Given the art community, there's very few people like that. It feels that with the exception of Tom Fulp, all these offshoot art sites get enshittified by poor moderation and quality control.
I kinda wish there was an art site that had the political freedom of web 1.0 but with the audience of web 3.0. Unfortunately that will never exist because normies don't go beyond Twitter/instagram/TikTok/Discord. All of these indie art sites ONLY have artists in them, so potential clients are dry.

deviantART used to be no porn, just some nudity, now it's full blown porn and disgusting fetishes like strangulation and drowning allowed.

should an art website approve of adult content so long as it isn't extreme?

should there be art websites that don't allow porn at all?

I think perhaps just a caring moderation and a few better rules would maybe make a lot of things better but maybe it wouldn't and maybe gooners will ruin it somehow either way.
porn in artwork has been an issue with underage characters, not just porn but gore.
if an art website was to restrict "porn" I'm almost certain no one would use it.
I don't agree with posting those themes but I'm under the impression that because so many other people do, that an art website would die if they didn't allow it.
a place like kiwi farms discusses people and sometimes explicit content is in their topic, however that isn't uploading porn to "enjoy" it like an art website.
if someone wanted to create a no-porn art website, I think it would die off and not be worth it because the consumers of art websites are a large sum of degenerates. furry or not, most of them are degenerates.
with visa, kofi and other payment services restricting the sale of adult content, seeing commissions of porn is like witnessing a backroad deal going on since payment services don't want that type of transaction anymore.
like you said, the main twitter, tumblr, deviantArt bag of consumerism will reign superior even if there is a better art website out there, twitter and Instagram are not just popular platforms by user activity, but popular because of preds for it's flimsy rules and control.
when places don't allow porn, the places that do allow it become inadvertently sought after by gooners even harder. causing a popularity spike for the worst places.
