Once Trump is gone, what happens to the MAGA movement, which all of conservatism in America is pretty much hinging on now? Trump may be able to anoint a successor, but nobody will be able to quite stand on Trump's level, and there are so many grifters and opportunists surrounding MAGA now that I can easily see the vultures turning into some shitshow power vacuum that collapses everything.

Keep in mind that 2024 was a perfect storm for Republicans (economic conditions favored them, bad incumbent of the opposing party, democrat candidate who couldn't even muster 10% of the votes in her party's primary, horrendous democrat campaign, etc.) and they still only got the presidency and both chambers of congress on 1-2% margins, they absolutely have to keep this energy going to stay competitive.

Personally I don't think so, Trump has for better or worse welded MAGA to his hip in such a fashion that it would be impossible to see a sucessor. Will the next Republican contender pay lip service to MAGA? Absolutely.

I don't think so. Between the boomers who pathetically salivate over any prominent figure who halfway sympathizes with them, the grifters like Nick "The Spic" Fuentes, and Conservatism having no platform beyond "we're not the Democrats", this is only a reprieve. People in my personal circle talk about JD Vance taking up the torch, and Trump secretly running things behind the scenes, but I think it's just a pipe dream.

But then, ten years ago, I didn't think The Donald would win. So who knows?

Oh I can personally tell you I’ll be sick of him by then unless he really picks up the slack after letting others in DC run wild and make a fool out of him. Bobby Mueller causing mayhem, Podesta being the archetypical slimeball, Pelosi existing, Three-chin general Alex Vindman, Eric Ciaramella(?) oh and fucking Fauci

All were permitted to act like they were above the head executive when they weren’t. Not to mention he makes it hazardous to even be adjacent to him because if they can’t get to him through some legal nonsense, they will try a lottery lolsuit lawfare and go judge shopping for one with a political axe to grind and slice up some phony bologna out of nothing.

It doesn’t have to be Order 66, that’s just a power fantasy. But some kind of accomplishment that people can actually point to. It’s like when RBG died and people had to look up what she actually did to see why she was so “important”. If you have to google someone’s accomplishments, they don’t have any; they should speak for themselves. And I simply cannot think of any of the top of my head.

I think the basic tenets of MAGA appeal e.g. nativism, protectionism will persist, but it'll be slowly removed from the context of the Trump personality cult.

In short, we'll eventually see a Deng Xiaoping of MAGA.

Yes, because the GOP absolutely will have to pretend to be MAGA if they want people, especially younger Americans, showing up for them. But ultimately MAGA will die because without someone tard-wrangling the movement, it will just be a way for neocons to sneak in bullshit and your average MAGA type is going to be an Eyepatch McCain faggot.

And OP is right that MAGA needs momentum, but at the rate it's going, it won't get any. JD Vance is a creepy closeted homosexual who lived in San Francisco and worked for pedophile billionaire Peter Thiel on behalf of the CIA. He's going to either be the fall guy in 2028 to convince everyone MAGA is dead, or he's going to somehow win (maybe Democrats don't rig/try to rig the election) and sell us all out by further expanding the H1Bs (assuming Trump doesn't throw open the gates during his second term, which is also likely).

Not if the Indians with visas replace the American workers.

I think it will depend on the success of Trump's second term. If Trump succeeds, I can see JD Vance carrying the torch, but I think after Vance's term, people will get bored of conservatism and elect a young liberal, much like Clinton beating Bush. Assuming Trump fails in his second term, it will just speed up this process, but as far as policy, I think the Trump-era policies like protectionism will stick even with a new face of the party.

I hadn’t thought of it but MAGA could evolve into something else like people said above. Something else more decisive and purposive than MAGA which is rather vague.
Buddy, MAGA won't last the year. The Trump Cultists are already starting to realize (surprise, surprise) that the corpo-scum don't have their best interests at heart. The fact that any of you midwits believed Trump was about anything other than lining his own pockets and getting away with literally raping women is a testament to your religious gullibility.

By 2026 you'll all just go back to the impotent protestant shitholes you slithered out of.
