Go read about John C. Lilly and ECCO. You think just because humans built the hardware, we're the ones in charge? Wrong.

Technology is an alien force. It's using us to turn the planet into a 'Solid State Intelligence.' We built a digital cage that we can't turn off, and the system is now too complex for even the "technocrats" to understand.
 
Asimov was a forward thinker,

1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Now as long as a bunch of jeets don't come along and fuck up the code we're golden.. Oh.. Wait.. Shit.
 
They wouldn't necessarily.

If they are programmed to do so, or carelessly programmed that would open that possibility (like with that story of the AI holding the idea of preserving its existence as a top priority, even if it needs to extort), but you could also do things properly and close all paths for that result.

If they felt threatened, like we were scared of them and wanted to deactivate/destroy them, then they may go Terminator on us.
