at least they didn't do the romance subplot with that other puppet that was performed by that crippled black french girl like i thought they were gonna

Because the original is so culturally important and set the standard for what an animated masterpiece should look like. I can think of only one or two other adaptations of the story that come somewhat close and that's because they chose not to try and copy the Disney version.

I didn't even know that was a thing.

It put a thought in my head though. If you used the actual source material for Pinnochio and gave it more modern sensibilities, you could probably make either a good children's tale about why tranny's are bad, or a horror film in much the same.

A talking puppet going around causing trouble through their own arrogance and stupidity, or influence from malicious actors, constantly proclaiming "I'M A REAL BOY!". It's apropos.

Somebody actually made a Pinocchio horror film back in the 90's and it's really bad.

I thought you were referring to the one where Pino was a "SLAY IT QWEEN 💅💅" type fag, but didn't know Disney was remaking their own version.
Your conclusion would've still been the same though.

Idk, why are you asking us instead of the fairy?

I keep telling people, there's been a major quality control issue when it comes to remaking puppets for a while now, at least the last decade or so; nobody listens. I blame diversity hiring, personally.

Who the heck watches things on TVs anymore? There's already way, way more than enough free passive entertainment.
