Why the young are falling for Hamas propaganda

Throughout the Anglo-American world, many young people seem to have thrown in their lot with Hamas. Indeed, a recent poll carried out by More in Common shows that 24 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds would characterise Hamas as freedom fighters.

That nearly a quarter of Zoomers have chosen to see Hamas, a vicious Islamist terror group, as liberatory heroes is all too telling. It suggests that millions of young people throughout the West identify with a movement that is unambiguously hostile to their society and way of life. Many of those who regard Hamas as freedom fighters are also likely to give more credence to Hamas propaganda than to mainstream news sources. As a result, over 30 per cent of Zoomers now believe the atrocities committed by Hamas on 7 Octoberare a fiction invented by Israel or the West.

There is considerable evidence that even before 7 October young people tended to be more supportive of Palestine than of Israel. After 7 October, Zoomers stood out for being the generation most likely to support anti-Israel protests. These sentiments are particularly prevalent among university students where the caricature of Israel as a ‘settler colony’ holds sway.

So what is it about Gen Z that has encouraged so many of that cohort to sympathise with or even support Hamas? And why are so many young people excusing the atrocities Hamas committed on 7 October or even denying they ever happened?

Many commentators have found a familiar scapegoat. They are blaming Gen Z’s pro-Hamas views on social media, noting the role played by influencers on TikTok and Instagram, or pointing to the huge amounts of pro-Hamas videos and propaganda on these platforms. They also claim that young people are afraid of saying the ‘wrong’ thing about the conflict, in case it leads to being singled out by the vocal pro-Hamas mob.

Social media’s role is no doubt significant. Unlike older members of society, who still get most of their news from mainstream outlets, the younger generation relies on social media to inform themselves about current events. They are thus much more likely to encounter sceptical takes on mainstream reporting. But it’s important not to overstate social media’s influence. A TikTok influencer does not have magical powers that can automatically make young people perceive an atrocity as a blow for freedom.

To understand properly why many young people are so uncritically anti-Israel, we need to look instead at the influence of identity politics. Make no mistake: identitarianism suffuses Gen Z’s worldview. It dominates Anglo-American popular culture. And it has become institutionalised in schools and universities.

There are three main reasons why the influence of identity politics over Gen Z makes it more likely to support Hamas. First, identity politics has sacralised victimhood. That is, it attributes an enormous amount of moral authority to groups and individuals on the basis of their perceived victimisation. And as Palestinians have been uniformly framed as victims over several decades, they have a tremendous amount of moral authority in identitarian eyes.

Moreover, for the identitarian, the victim is by definition blameless and always to be believed. To doubt the victim’s account of an event is to engage in the crime of ‘victim-blaming’. This all helps to explain the positive attitudes that some Zoomers express towards Hamas. As they see it, this terrorist organisation represents a blameless victim group. Hence Gen Z’s willingness to uncritically accept Hamas’s version of events, even if it involves denying the atrocities committed on 7 October.

The second way in which identity politics shapes Zoomers’ positive view of Hamas rests on the identitarian hostility towards the West. According to this view, Western history is a tale of racial oppression and exploitation, and Western society is built upon ‘white privilege’. In the context of the Middle East, identitarians tend to see Israelis and Jews as Western proxies, symbols of white privilege, oppressing and exploiting dark-skinned victim groups. Furthermore, because of their supposed economic and cultural power, Jewish people are regarded as not only white but as ‘hyper-white’. All this inclines Gen Z to see Israel and even Jewish people as representatives of all that is wrong in the world.

Third, identity politics encourages a conspiratorial mindset. This is because identity politics is built on a diminished sense of agency, in which we are all said to be shaped by the identities we acquired at birth. According to this passive, fatalistic worldview, individuals are constantly manipulated and influenced by hidden powerful forces, from the media to shadowy political actors, which can either validate or victimise us based on our identities. This is the very stuff of conspiracy theory.

Little wonder that Zoomers, a generation immersed in identitarianism, are so susceptible to the influence of conspiracy theories. It therefore doesn’t take much for many of them to believe the outrageous claim that 7 October was a fiction invented by Israeli propagandists.

The identitarian culture of Zoomers – a culture of victimhood, of Western self-loathing and of conspiracism – has allowed pro-Hamas sentiments and myths to flourish. We need to challenge young people’s grossly distorted view of the war between Israel and Hamas. To do so, we need to take on the identity politics that sustains it.

Jews and their golems. But more than that, the jews are inadvertently proving they control all the levers of society. Congress wants to define Anti-zionism as anti-semitism. Companies are boycotting anti-zionists, etc. everyone else can see what the jews are doing and they're thinking "oh they really control everything".

It suggests that millions of young people throughout the West identify with a movement that is unambiguously hostile to their society and way of life.
This isn't their society or way of life, they are just as unambiguously hostile towards it as any Islamic terrorist. These hardcore leftists admire the brutality of Hamas because they want to do the same things to the "reactionaries" at home. If the Khmer Rouge were around today they'd support their actions just as much.

However, they're too blind, willfully ignorant, or stupid (or all three) to realize that there is no room for them in the world groups like Hamas envision. The Islamists used this to their advantage during the Iranian Revolution by getting the Iranian Communists to support them.

Guess what happened to the Communists after the Islamists won?

That may be true, but two things are conspicuously absent from this analysis:
  1. It's been nearly a hundred years since the Six Gorillion. The people who still give a shit are dying out, and Jews have enjoyed unprecedented levels of (widely unrequitted) adoration from Gentiles since then.
  2. Zoomers and millenials see Israel as a "white" country, and are still buttmad at their Bush-voting Boomer parents for taking them to church. So they've decided to embrace Exotic Brown Dick to piss them off.

They're too brainwashed and wimpy to listen to white power...but they ARE starting to notice there are strings being pulled and where they all seem to be going to.

Well, hardly surprises me. There are many factors that have caused this. The first is is probably radical leftism that is very attractive to the youth. "West bad, everywhere else good!" and since Israel is "west-adjacent" (read: not a horrible povery-stricken shithole), and Palestine/Gaza is "Everywhere else" they just end up drawing the conclusion that this is some easy conflict with no more depth than opressors and the opressed, so Hamas become the "freedom fighters".

There's also the angle of islamophobia which makes these kids with their brains doped up on ideology to see the islamist terrorists as the opressed.

They all of course conveniently forget that Hamas started it all by comitting a massive massacre of civilians who had nothing to do with any of this and Israel had no other option than to answer force with force.

It's an old Carlin joke, really. If fire fighters fight fire, what are freedom fighters fighting?

Jewish Hollywood propagandizes the West with an endless stream of anti-White hatred and constant praise of the noble brown person.
"Oh no, my Golem is attacking me, help me filthy goyim"

All these problems Western countries have to deal with, brought here by foreigners, that don't even like it here.

Jews should move to the middle east and then they can deal with their infighting with their blood relatives the Arabs on their own.

That's kind of what happens when the people you work endlessly to undermine are the only ones who support you and the ones you replace them with are not as receptive to your propaganda. You... lose support. How did they not see this coming?

I don't know what's worse about this article, that it reads like typical journoscum promoting mainstream media news, and calling everything outside it a conspiracy theory, or it makes a bunch of straw men that are not true or ignores the evidence of why some of this is happening.

Zoomers don't think 10/7 didn't happen, they believe Israel helped fund Hamas, to set up a false flag to displace Gazans into the West, which "conspiracy theory " or not is being attempted.

Lastly it ignores who created this utmost belief in victims no matter what mentality. This started with Holocaust doctrine, despite the 1919 Revolution in Germany and how they did nuffing wrong all the other times they were expelled or attacked for their actions. It also ignores who funded this brain washing to the youth on college campuses... Jewish ceos themselves who were cools when it bashed whites only. So fuck them.

The lionization of victimhood taught in schools and on social media is rife with hypocrisy and a complete lack of nuance. Great! Now apply that statement to other groups besides Jews.

It's because Islam's industrial complex has done it's job very well. Nobody knows or understands Islam. Even the people who fucking worship it. You can read the Quaran and have 0 fucking clue what you just read. The whole thing is in Old Arabic and Sheikhs have spent centuries duping people into diverting attention away from what the Quaran actually says. The followers of Islam have the Immortal Lie of "well you didn't read the REAL Quaran". Sure, other religions have their lies and deceipt but if you look at Christianity and Catholicism and their different sects, they generally all say the same thing minus a few key differences. Islam is not that. That's why Quarans even in the same friggin sect of Islam will be wildly different from each other. Islam is entirely dictated and controlled by the Sheikhs who lie and dupe people over and over and over again to a degree no other religion actually does. It's the world's most popular cult. And that's before you even get into their conquest ventures.

Young people don't and can't grasp this concept that Islam is a religion that places extremely heavy importance on language but it's holy book is in a language nobody speaks, and is guarded closer than the Vatican's vault. You can only read the TRANSLATIONS which are wildly different from each other. You can't learn it. You can't speak it. If you question it, they kill you.

Well shucks, looks like there might be hope yet fer them there lefty boys to turn this whole shin dig around. Course I spose you could say it twere only natural that they dun turnt on the Jews considerin how history like repeatin itself in funny haha sorts ah ways.

It’s especially funny seeing Jews in California reacting to Mexicans are just as if not more anti-Israel and anti-Jews than African Americans. Oy vey build that wall Trump.

>Raise successive generations on a philosophy of history/politics utterly tied to power games and forcing everything into a binary oppressed/oppressor dynamic
>Those generations look at one country, made up primarily of relatively recent immigrants from Eastern Europe and having Westernized culture
>The other has had ancestors live in the area for thousands of contiguous years, is browner, less Western, and has questionable levels of sovereignty over their territory in favor of the Eastern European interlopers
>That same ethnicity for the first country is also disproportionately represented among the wealthy and powerful at home, who these generations have learned to hate amid rising income inequality.

It was obvious for years this is the road things would go down and I applaud progressive Jews for the sheer size of the blinkers they must have put on to not see this coming.

These young people will claim to care about LGBT people but once Hamas reestablishes itself and begins persecuting LGBT Palestinians, all their concerns and focus will be directed to some trivial legislation in their home countries.

I swear, young people are being trained to be apparatchiks so their rage can be directed at something then redirected at something else when muh current thing outlives it's usefulness.

It's why the progressive stack, the oppressor v. oppressed narrative, and anti-Whiteness is being pushed.

It's literally GENOCIDE when transgender males cannot compete against girls but don't worry about gays being thrown off rooftops. That has to be approached with the utmost cultural sensitivity so not to disturb the Muslims in our group.
