If anime was more of an abstract or stylish expression completely devoid of mainstream normie garbage, I wouldn't have been embarrassed to like anime in the first place. So many people wanted to make anime about hyper masculine girls with giant boobies while completely ignoring the details of what made anime girls pretty. This isn't a rant on Modern Anime. In my opinion, some of the very best anime styles also exist in the 2010s and 2020s. We are still getting amazing creative anime works to this day. But the market is oversaturated with extremely bland and ugly looking characters with extremely cliche story lines that make the medium such a laughingstock that makes a childrens McDonalds book look like complex storyline. I want works of anime inspired by those of David Cronenberg, David Lynch, John Carpenter, Takashi Miike, William Utermohlen, Aphex Twin, John Martin, etc. And while we do have a lot of this. Why do we have such atrocities in Anime that make the works of Chris Chan look like Leonardo DaVinci in comparison.

All of these anime works I listed are recent works. Many artists on Twitter during the 2010s and 2020s would often make the best looking anime artwork. Their styles are very unique and creative and are rightfully cherished.

I have no choice but the relate and wholeheartedly agree with this picture.

I do know that during the 1940s and 1950s, anime artists collaborated to experiment with character design and styles to make this medium a stylistic interpretation. It still is to this day but it was never meant for retards cheaply producing cheaply made cancer that give anime it's reputation today.

Commercialized mediums make products that appeal to the broadest possible audience while having the cheapest cost to produce. It's just business. Any time you wonder "Why do They make bad [thing], instead of good [thing]?", that's basically your answer (barring incompetence, nepotism, and other pitfalls). Would the general public keep paying if the quality of your products increased? Sure, but why try harder when you can get paid for cheap? Sturgeon's Law applies to effectively every avenue of entertainment, and that includes Japanese cartoons for children. Studios keep pumping out isekais and shit because it sells, because that's what the fans want, and that's why the medium and its fans attract a stigma.

There exists such a thing as a target audience. Anime is a medium rather than a genre. This is as silly as asking, "Why are there so many stupid TV shows? They should all be more like the ones that I like."

They exist because there's a market for them and people who like them. And guess what? That target audience probably thinks your preferred properties suck, too. One person's insipid and annoying is another person's light-hearted and fun. Another's poetic and deep is yet another person's pretentious.

Yeah. But when coomers and special needs leftists get a hold of the medium. Corporations lower their standards. And then a person who has never heard of anime will assume all anime is like this.

To start with because anime originally was primarily made and targeted for children. Even Shonen Jump, the biggest manga publication, has "shonen" in its name, which means a young boy.

The other demographic that then branched off of that is weirdo fucking shut in hikkikomori types who need their anime to be some kind of gayshit wish fulfillment.
They need power levels and harems and all that (which is dumb btw: my rule of thumb is that if more than 2 women at a time hang around you alone it's a sign they either pity you or think you're gay) (but of course the type of people who watch anime are deeply intimidated by other men, so I guess they need to have only doting women around so they can feel more secure in their nonexistent masculinity).

It doesn't matter that much whether it's like that or not, adult animation isn't that major an entity. In the west animation is usually used in adult comedies, sometimes it's also a little dramatic like BoJack Horseman or whatever, but for the most part adults don't watch cartoons.

I know there used to be some slightly more adult-oriented anime back during the Japanese economic boom in the 70s, but nowadays the number of regular people who aren't weirdos who want to watch cartoons just isn't that high. Anime, as a concept, is largely the problem. Anime is stupid and gay.

If you're a grown adult who still watches cartoons you're developmentally stunted and I wouldn't be surprised if you end up getting caught molesting a child.

Older live-action TV is what I tend to focus on, in terms of Western content. Eastern content is generally excluded, except for maybe one or two books. Being a weeb and/or NEET is something I'd like to avoid, if possible.
How much older?
My Pa's a literal boomer and I tended to like the same stuff as him, so I've seen a fair bit of old black and white era TV. I like Andy Griffith, Gomer Pyle, Gunsmoke, Death Valley Days, haven't seen near as much of it but Hogan's Heroes. Also like Are You Being Served from British TV (it gets real old real fast because it's the same recycled jokes every time, haha Miss Slocombe said pussy, but it's good on occasion) and Family Matters (Urkle).

Is this where your new avatar is from?

"Straight Lolicon", "Cousin Incest", "Non-blood-related Brother/Sister Incest", "Blood-related Brother/Sister Incest"

Literally the answer is because there's a fuckton of it, so its way too easy to run into the stuff that sucks.

I've made this old man rant before, but I remember when anime was genuinely niche here in America and thus, anything we got seemed special... and most of the stuff from that era tends to hold up pretty well. But then we started getting anything that Japan shat out, and that's when you get the fuckton of waifu shit, fighting shit, and literal copycats of not just last year's big hits, but well-known works in the medium period.

I've said it before... if you watch Ranma 1/2 you've watched like 70% of every anime ever made, right there.

Mainly the late 50s and 60s. Particularly Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, and others. I prefer them due to their basis in Christianity (however subtle it might seem). Eastern media has a different basis. I won't call it all inferior, but I don't see the use in abiding by their values when we have our own in the West to consider. Ones which served us well, until they were supplanted by others.
