Why is Q&A board succeed while Mass Debate board failed?

The mass debate board is pretty much dead by now expect for a few autistic slapfight threads and it hasn't even been a year, while our beloved Q&A board is still going strong. Why? The only reason I can think of is that the mass debate board is associate to the objectively shittest place on this site (A&N, of course), but other than that I can't find a plausible explanation.

I think the other problem is that Mass Debates kind of indicates that you're expected to engage on an ongoing basis and support your arguments and whatnot, which is obviously insane, who the hell wants to try to reason with anyone who uses this site? It's madness. Look at you people.

With Q&A you're free to just say some nonsense and leave and not feel bad about it afterwards, so you don't feel compelled to elaborate at length about why Cammy from Street Fighter's butt doesn't qualify as a work of modern art.

Truth is, it's because our noob well has runneth thin. A lot of people come to this site to make inflammatory comments, and were previously banned for shitting up threads. Now, the same people can either hang out and fight in the thread from the start or mods can move them to it for containment purposes and laughing stock purposes.


I have a feeling that once July 4th rolls around, we'll see a few new threads there. For now, the ground is seeded and we're getting our feet wet. Wait a bit for a spergening before writing it off as a true failure.

You say this then someone makes a thread trying to convert someone into thinking their way anyway in spite of the utter uphill battle. Some lunatics can't be stopped.
