I'm out of the loop. Anyone knows why he is so beloved by so many people?

Media agencies shove him (or her) and every other celebrity abomination down our throats through TV, movies, magazines, and newspapers, to manufacture idols for the populace to worship because the industry is run by true blue Satanists who are elated at the thought of millions of goya breaking His first commandment.

People are not perceiving him as obnoxious or annoying? Are they on drugs or something?

He's not a bad singer. Tribute is absolutely played to death, but if you were a metalhead in the early 2000s it was an absolute meme.

He seems like a kind of a down to earth guy compared to other celebrities and he's got talent across multiple fields.

Distinctive voice and on screen persona and a lot of late millennials and zoomers grew up watching him in something.

He is?

I mean, I liked Tenacious D fair enough back in the day. Brutal Legend was a good campy fun game (despite its jank) only movies of his I’ve seen were Shallow Hal and School of Rock and they were alright, not great but not terrible. I’m pretty ambivalent about him.

Didn’t realize he’s gotten really popular now.

He's just a great preformer, I saw him at a Tenacious D concert a while back and he put his all into it, dude was completely drenched in sweat by the end. He's also has a real talent for reaching different generations. Teens to young adult stoners adored Tenacious D'S music and especially there HBO show, then he was able to capture the love of kids with stuff like school of rock and kung fu panda, now he's even loved by the new generation of kids thanks to being bowser in mario. I like to think its because he's able to bring the same high energy to everything he does whether its crude rock songs about "fucking her gently" or "deactivating lasers, with my dick" to nickelodeon and DreamWorks kids movies.

He's basically been in a shitton of movies of varying quality. Not to mention he's a high-energy unique character that stands out amongst others.

Brutal Legend. It's like God of War but with metal. God of war was pretty metal. The creator said Heavy Metal Magazine was an influence. But GoW wasn't about music. I have Brutal Legend on Steam. I might install it. I like that kind of music and I love God of War.
