For instance, I think no matter what, cosplay always looks like shit no matter how nice someone's body is.

What's wrong with these women and their hideous wigs and crumpled outfits also, the proportions are just bad. By my estimate, Maetel is at least 5'9 +.

It's the hair, if they scale that down or have a really nice wig it doesn't look bad.

idk I cosplayed as a ghost when I was 9 and it was pretty sick
Where I lived all the adults were super into cosplay, they'd dress up as ghosts and burn some T logs in lawns to stay warm and well lit.

In the case of the girl in your picture it's mostly her pug nose. Just won't look good no matter what you do, plus her cheeks are too round and fatty. Her wig being the color of piss and, despite being fake hair, STILL MANAGING TO LOOK LIKE SHE HAS SPLIT ENDS. Bitch is basic.

long wigs like that are a fucking nightmare to take care of to be fair. the shade is fucked though and she couldve at least tried to look less inbred

Oh for sure. I actually kind of feel bad for her, you can tell she worked really hard on her lips and eyes but didn't know what to to with the rest of her face. If she had done something to make it look like she has some actual cheekbones that might have distracted from her pug nose.

it would also help give that illusion of the thinner face that the art style has.
every time my friends cosplay and they look like shit my secondhand embarrassment forces me to help them to not look like the carpet samples furry edition of whatever character they are

It's just really puke making when adults try to emulate characters from childhood. It's not like they're trying to do something FOR children, like enacting a child's story for kids, they're trying to BE a child character and they need to be taken out to the back 40 and shot
I couldn't find the version of the meme I wanted so I had to go to find this one, but this is more or less cosplay in a nutshell:

It's one of those things that seems cool when you're like 16 but realize how dumb it is when you're an adult unless you have some form of arrested development.

The wig isn’t cut properly. In the source pic you can see it’s more layered. A lot of cosplayer wigs look like shit because nobody can cut hair lol.

One type I "cosplayed" as Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum's character from Jurassic Park) with some friends after a few drinks when we watched Jurassic World in the theatre. Really it was just me wearing all black, a leather jacket, and sunglasses. It was retarded but really fun. I think that's the thing -- don't take it seriously and don't document with photos and it's all harmless fun.

I have 2 cosplay costumes for Helloween. I will not apologize.
