Why does so much British food include savoury pastry?

Most of our food, especially the fast food, involves savoury pastry - sausage rolls, pasties, pies, etc. Also a lot of our food is deep-fried, like fish and chips. Also tinned beans seems to be specifically a British thing, never heard of it anywhere else. Why is that? The best explanation I saw someone say was that British cooking never recovered from World War 2.

I admit to occasionally making unconventional pies, such as buying those breakfast packs from shops, cooking them, cutting them up and putting them into pies to have whenever.

As an American, I can confirm canned beans are everywhere here. Very normal to have a stack of them in your pantry.
Josh said on one of his livestreams that the reason Americans say they get bad stomachs after eating tacos is because tacos have beans in them and Americans don't tend to eat beans. How commonly are beans had? Also how commonly is tea drank in America?

Beans are a staple of American BBQ.
Beans in tacos isn't as common but they're a normal addition to burritos. Most items on Taco Bell's menu contain beans.

Tea is kinda seen as a feminine drink. Most women I know drink it. Most men don't.

Tinned beans used to be dirt fucking cheap it became a meme at one point they were literally paying customers 2p to take them away, the British palate adapted to them.

Savoury pasties is just traditional it's a fairly hearty lunch that requires no cutlery or cooking and can easily be eaten down in the mines.

Your savory pastries are just like our pepperoni rolls. Hand held, doesn't need to be refrigerated, quick lunch. There's a reason they're the official food of West Virginia.

That makes sense, though it seems people outside Britain don't appreciate it. A family member spoke to a Japanese foreigner who thought British food was gross. A lot of people on this site also hate British food (and Britain).
Originally, the pastry wasn’t intended to be eaten, it just held the meat filling.
Apparently there are certain types of pastries that were made so the miners could eat the fillings without having to touch it with their coal-covered hands, like a pastry handle that they'd toss once they finished eating the contents. Forgot what it was called though.

Do the beans come on their own or do they have tomato sauce on them, like the ones here usually do?

Does "nothing new under the sun" apply here?

You're thinking of the Cornish pasty, but it's actually a myth. They were usually wrapped in muslin cloth and eaten from that.

Uh, it’s fucking good? You retard?

*no but palatibilty is what I’m saying here, as least possibly/potentially. You gotta nourish, animal fat and flour are presumably not often in short supply and therefore cheap, and if all you’ve got is crap ingredients otherwise, well shit, fry it up. Throw a pound a’ sault on ‘er too while yer at it

Never seen tomato sauce before. But there's many different varieties. Baked beans you'd have on the side with a rack of ribs usually come in a sort of sweet BBQ sauce and bacon bits. Refried beans are what go into Mexican slop and those are usually mixed with bits of veggies and crushed into a paste. "Plain" beans usually get tossed into a pot of chili unless you're one of those people that are oddly passionate about "real chili doesn't have beans!"

Then there's green beans which are another topic altogether.
