Why does my cat want food she'll hate?

She always wants fruits, vegetables, my various weird herbal drinks. She recoils in disgust after she tries them but keeps coming back for more. Is she retarded?

No that's pretty common as they will often times try to eat things that smell good to them. A cat's sense of smell is 14 times stronger than a human's.

I rescued a kitten from a rest stop in Texas because he was getting bullied out of food by other bigger cats and didn't seem to have a mom taking care of him. Fed him Texas BBQ. He ended up being the nicest, friendliest, most well behaved and trusting cat I've ever seen, but every time I would cook anything he sounded like the guitar solo from 300MPH Outpour Blues. Don't know if he assumed everything I cook is gonna taste like Texas BBQ or if he just never got used to not having to beg for food.

If the cat sees you eating it, that means the food has been vetted by you, and is safe and good to eat. She just fails to acknowledge you have different tastes.
