I've never seen my cousin's kids without a tablet or smartphone in hand and I'm pretty sure her own mother talks to her kids more than she does.

Parents have also stopped being adults a good while ago so expectations should realisticly be very low.

I gues it was popular back when it was vine and kinda blew up thanks to phones becoming standart form of long distance communication and just happening to be a good fit for between classes or on the bus for kids.
After that prob just marketing and chink money.

I want to know why adults started using it.

Everybody uses Tiktok now. I have coworkers twice my age who show me Tiktok videos. The format really broke people's brains.

The algorithm is apparently really good, the content is simple and easy to consume so you don't really need to engage or think about it too much. Like how people use to plop down in front of the TV for hours watching trash they now do it with tiktok.

it's THE BEST available application in the market rn. it's really a misconception that all it has are 10 sec clips.
the algo is LEGIT god tier and accurately reflects your current mind state. you can either use it as a discovery platform or even watch the content itself there

(and i haven't gone into meta games likes fliters cuz i dont use them. use an adfree mod if you can btw, with a throwaway id)
