Why do people pretend that the Olympics aren't boring?

It's literally people doing the same actions over and over and over again.
Even if I initially find an event interesting, I'll very quick get bored with it.
The only thing I find funny is the weight lifting competition and that's only because I'm waiting for a contestant to have a hernia burst on live TV.

What gives? Why do people act like they're so important?

Solution
Because there's lots of money to be made off them and media and corporations like things that make them lots of money and people are in general brain dead retards who just blindly listen to whatever the media tells them to.

But what's your threshold before you get bored with it?
depends on what i'm doing, same as just keeping football in the background sometimes i guess?
i can't say as i've ever been like EXCITED to see a match or anything, but it's a neat game.

on the flip to all of that, i'm sure there's plenty of old videos online i could watch if i ever wanted to, so i'm not saying it needs to be on TV either. the winter games sort of helped kill Conan way back on NBC and i can't really forgive that

My family was watching it and it was just skiing, skiing and more skiing. I get that those jumps are difficult. But holy hell how many ski styles can there be?

And WTF is curling an Olympic sport? It's the stupidest looking thing I've seen in a long time.

The first modern Olympics were held in Summer 1896, and at that time people would watch anything for a sport; at that time baseball was truly the national sport of America. Ty Cobb around the turn of the century got big money offers for a monologue on stage just to talk about playing in a World Series game; not only would people obsess over baseball, people would obsess over just talking on stage. In short, people were starved for amusement, and the Olympics like anything else were quickly devoured. Now it's hopeless though.

The only time i ever care about olympics is when someone from my country wins gold or something
And even then it's just "cool"

Other than that, i agree that olmypics are the most boring thing ever
