Why do people appologise for cursing?

I've never understood it. It's like they think it's a competition to be crude. The truth is everybody is naked and laughing levels of crude in nature. I don't know why people see it as a sport and then apologise for it. It is like water apologising for being wet.

People that apologize for any behavior irk me. If you're actually sorry, you will never repeat the behavior again, thus you don't need to vocalize it to me.
