I tend to get this from time to time on Twitter and other places shit artists go when I browse for the stuff I like....but this has always been something I've been seeing. Most artists IRL aren't like this, but why is the online crowd so desperate for attention?

Solution
It's usually low IQs or autists
Take home grown mangaka lolcow Mono as an example.
He's afraid of his work being "stolen," which makes no sense as everything on the internet doesn't really belong to you in a traditional sense. As an artist you do want your work to be proliferated, the few who do like your work will also most likely seek out who made that work so that they can follow you.

Low IQ people can't figure the internet out, so you see it with kids posting "my oc do not steal" and autism vortexes like Japanese circles tend to be territorial about people reposting their shit.

The only reason people repost Donut Steels is to laugh at them. No one cares about your edgy Sonic recolor that's totally an original character.

With Japan they'll threaten to block access from your country. But these days it's easily bypassable. It's the internet. People are gonna repost. There's not much you can do about it.

It’s retarted and if you want to nuder your image but “keep it” you can put an ugly ass watermark on it.

It would be nice if they got paid for the work (give me the benefit of the doubt about this being actual art) but it’s not the average Joe’s fault for money dipping, that’s more of a corpo thing.

And as someone who has wandered aimlessly for years, I have grown a fondness of seeing sad, autistic/retarded artists (gonna be kind as most of them make slop) making a huge deal about making rules for how to handle their art, or at least the typical "don't repost", and also how they make a huge deal out of AI and how EVIL it is because "muh consent". I think this is also a major reason why watermarks and stuff are also popular.

The MMD community is absolutely filled with these types of people, with them going DFE mode if they dare see anyone break their rules sometimes.

Honestly you should document them they tend to be funny, I'm surprised there isn't already a thread for "Artist's Consent Spergouts"

People that complain that AI art is evil have no creativity. You can't beat a machine? Look Bing is good, but when you push it, try to make it do something entirely new, maybe something you drew just better, based solely on prompts, it doesn't come out right. AI is a tool. Nothing more.
