Why do newfags get the 'Fresh Meat' title?

I agree.

"Fresh meat" is dehumanizing and perpetuates the idea that animal suffering is OK. Meat is murder!

I think that "fresh piece of living flesh" would be more appropriate.

Although I know you mean well, "fresh fruit" seems like a slippery slope. You just know malicious users will end up finding a way to use the term in an ableist fashion, like they did with vegetables. They already ruined potato for me....
