Why do Linux users never shut up about using Linux?

What the hell kind of freaks do you associate with?
I'm going to guess wrinkled-brain individuals that have gone through the change from windows 95 to XP to 7 and recognize that Windows is a OS of Theuses that is in the process of being remade

Well, they'll have to let me know when they finally get there and I might give a damn.

Until then, I'll just be dreading what they're going to haphazardly change in the next version of Windows that worked perfectly fine and no one was complaining about in the last version of Windows.

Based on what I'm seeing of Windows 12 there shouldn't be any feature removals, and the Win10 stuff that had replaced the old ways are getting built on to bring back features that were lost in the change. The only big changes will be if you're running it on a Phone or netbook or low-end tablet, in which case support for legacy apps may be limited. But the majority of users will be using desktops or laptops that won't have that limitation.

Edit: also Apples os's have been based on Linux since forever, and up until recently you could still use the same bash commands and scripts. So Apple is the most popular distro and shares the same obnoxious fan base.
My autism will not let me ignore this, so if it's bait well done. Apple has been based on *BSD since forever. Linux is basically an emulation/replacement for UNIX (well it started that way) because the original UNIX required very expensive hardware and a very expensive license. BSD was once a true UNIX but the successors aren't (OpenBSD, FreeBSD etc) but the main difference between *BSD and UNIX was the license. It allows you to straight steal it and it's fine, so Apple did.

To be fair, Windows did too. Every version of Windows with a TCP/IP stack since the 90s, if you boot them in Linux and run the strings command on telnet, ftp etc it will spit out the BSD licence from like 1983.

This is why Linux users won't shut up. Because if we waited for someone who actually wanted to hear, we would wait a long time.

Serious answer? Probably because it has a much smaller user base so you mention it a lot probably to see if there's anyone around, so you might actually find someone to talk to? I'm just guessing. Like if you're into Rush, you put it out there because other people who are into these things are usually people that you end up having something in common with that's a good ice breaker.

People who use linux for their home desktop are the vegans of the computer world
I don't know about that. I switched about four years ago so I could force myself to expand my knowledge to help further my career, which it did. I liked it more than Windows or OSX so it's still my daily driver. Not really a moral stance attached to it.
