I unironically googled this myself a while back, and according to 2010-era Yahoo Answers, the general consensus was that their spicy diets affected their bodily smell -- much akin how eating lots of fruit makes your cum taste sweet.

Also NO it is not just their diet of spicy curry. This is just people being "polite" in forums. Plenty of cultures eat spicy food and don't smell like shit. They don't put deodorant on or bathe everyday or wash their hands after wiping their ass with it.
