Why do Hot Pockets turn out terribly sometimes - It makes no sense

Sometimes when I make a Hot Pocket it turns out really hard and fucked up

Put a bowl upside down over it - helps it not to dry out.

Never put it at the center of the microwave.

It's because of how microwaves work. The heating is being done outside in, not inside out. Microwaves are really bad at heating any part of food that's placed in the center. You may be compensating for how bad microwaves are at cooking by nuking it too long.

Haven’t eaten a Hot Pocket in ages but my problem was they’d always be lava hot at the edges and stone cold in the middle. Never had that issue with any other microwaveable frozen food

I have that issue with chimichangas. I always add an extra two minutes so I don't get another soggy, half frozen chimichanga. Shit's worse than the Killing Fields.
