I knew a guy that was the mod for a few subreddits (back in 2015 before it got openly pozzed). Dude was a stereotypical Redditor; fat, balding at 25, atheist, college "educated," and unkempt. I once asked him how he could let himself go and he revealed he was one of those futurist who believed his mind would one day be uploaded to a perfect body and his current flesh was simply temporary. He's probably a solid 350lbs right now

Yeah, very interesting. Sounds like the kind of guy who is just smart enough to come up with high brow rationalizations to be lazy and let yourself go. Beyond just the physical, investing that much time and effort into managing Reddit has to take a huge toll on your personal, and probably professional lives.

Its funny how you never see, 'married with X kids, full time job' as part of a hugely active Reddit or Discord mod's story. At best its some middle aged guy who may even have a full time job, but absolutely no life.

If you die from heart disease or diabetes before the 'future' tech comes, then your present body definitely matters. Not that I think we're getting that tech realistically, but at best we can hope for some kind of digital copy (as seen in SOMA). Your biological brain has no way of being converted into a digital form.
