I mean memes always kinda sucked but, now it's noticeably worse. Most boil down to X is good, Y is bad!. And you know what, those wholesome memes suck extra hard. Everything sucks, fuck everything.

because everyone takes everything too seriously now. It used to be that if someone called you a nigger online you'd shrug it off because it's the internet and who cares, now people are more offended getting insulted online then they are in meatspace. "wholesome memes" are the natural endpoint of a world where it's a capital offense to cause offense to anyone.
