I don't remember exactly how I was lead to Kiwifarms, but I believe I ended up lurking here for a few months and made an account during the time frame of Chris fucking his mom. I had a mild passing interest in Chris Chan from YouTube and reading up on different CWCiki entries. I didn't really post a whole lot of anything for a while because I didn't feel I had anything worthwhile to contribute, but I slowly eased into being more conversational.
All in all, I've stayed because I like the coziness and information structure of a forum. You're essentially free to say and discuss whatever you'd like here, short of fedposting, being a pedophile, posting endlessly about nothing of substance while slapfighting, and getting up to shit that gets Null involuntarily involved with authority figures. Getting banned for slap fighting is rare unless you do so with Null directly repeatedly; you typically just get put in a brief thread ban time out to sort yourself. Compared to dealing with shit like Reddit and their moderation/suppression on any discussion that isn't 100%-approved and sanded of all edges while someone being more inflammatory than ever, it's a nice change of pace. You may catch flak for having an unpopular opinion, but if it's at least on-topic, it won't get you and your posts shoah'd to the shadow realm.
It's also quite nice to see information and viewpoints from such a large demographic. I've learned a lot about cultures and happenings outside my own here that I never would have been aware of otherwise. As a bonus, it's something I'm taking my own initiative to read up on, there's no bullshit algorithm initiative feeding me "curated content". I can read up on current events, popular culture, and occasionally, watch an e-famous degenerate torpedo their livelihoods and egos, all from the comfort of one forum.
Honorable mentions: I can say nigger, I've reluctantly grown to like this community, rapid dissimenation of information on topics legacy media either won't cover or actively obfuscate, and people (including Null) often range from being simply funny to gutbustingly hilarious.
