Why did Trump pause his tarriffs?

Why are you asking here out of all places?

The best reading of the scenario is he paused the tariffs on everyone, but China is because the other nations are negotiating in good faith so he in turn is playing nice in the negotiations.

The whole point of the tariffs is to flex America's big dick.

The massive trade deficit America has been running was to subsidize those nations, but when those nations started getting uppity and entitled, Trump, in his capacity as the head of state to the nation they were getting entitled towards, had to lay down the law. The fact the tariffs even went into effect instead of all those other countries immediately saying "Yes Sir" is proof he had to do this for America to once again get the respect it deserves.
