This has always seemed irrational and autistic to me. Who cares? They're eminently practical.

Fashion designers and consoomers have a thing against unglamorous practicality. Everyone seems to forget about them when they bitch about women's pocketless pants too.

I used to wear cargo pants for work I also wore them with a belt and suspenders both are eminently practical. When I was off the clock the most practical thing was to carry less shit.

Serious answer: humans are attracted to sleek, flowing lines and symmetry, and bulging khaki cargo pants are decidedly not that.

That said, fuck looking pretty, I got shit I need to carry, and I am not bringing a fucking purse.

Fashion trends are a scam, they got everyone to replace cargoes and buy skinny jeans in the late 2000’s. Now wide leg pants, cargos pants, and other late 90’s/2000’s fashion are coming back around.

They’re great because they can replace a purse and they’re easier to access than a backpack. There are cargo pants with lower profile pockets, as long as the pockets aren’t overstuffed they look fine.

I need lots of pockets and I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks. Though incidentally, the past decade or so I've noticed that the only millennials that wear them are some form of nerd or another. Those who aren't worried about fashion trends will always see the insane practicality in them.

they're much like Fred durst in that they're frequently found in the same room and neither have been cool since 2001
