I can tell you the real reason. Back in 1975 the US army learned of the practice of circumcision from Chaim the Dancing Accountant, a very famous Jewish superhero. It helps with cleanliness but cut dicks can get gross, too. It does reduce the risk of STD transmission, but not enough to really justify doing routine infant circumcisions (IMO). If you're engaging in risky sexual behavior, you're gonna pick something up regardless.

I think it looks nice, but I have to admit I've always been kind of jealous of dudes who still have their foreskins.
