I can't remember his name but the guy who was hypnotized to torture, kill and cannibalize """VC"""s in Vietnam as part of the Phoenix Program and then brought back to the United States where he proceeded to continue doing the exact same thing, all by himself with no accomplices or handlers completely randomly for no reason and to nobody else's benefit.

I'm fascinated by Dennis Rader.
He reminds me of a person who tried to cause me problems when I was growing up. Making the biggest mountains out of the smallest molehills all in the name of projecting focus away from their own fucked up issues. They were an authority figure but with no real powers, high up in this local church & was brought down by he's own stupidity.

Andrei Chikatilo, because the only thing funnier than having to kill over 50 people because your dick doesn't get hard is the fact that the USSR said that serial killers were a western phenomenon while dropping the ball long enough for this guy to beat Gary Ridgeway, the most prolific serial killer in US history :story:
Also pulling out your penis in the middle of your testimony in court and demanding that they submit into evidence that it's incapable of getting hard is fucking hilarious.

I still think the Zodiac Killer is one of the more unique ones despite being the first example everyone points to when they think of a serial killer. No sexual angle to his crimes, uncaught, taunted the police relentlessly and seemed to just kill for nothing but notoriety and to troll the police.

I don't know a lot of killers have said that that power trip IS the sexual angle. We don't know if he jerked off to it later because they never had enough to arrest the guy.

Arthur Leigh Allen is the zodiac, that's why they closed the case. They knew it was him, he died in 92 and they couldn't find anything to make it stick before he died.
He basically took a knee and ran out the clock when he realized the other shoe was about to drop.
That's another crazy thing in and of itself because most of these idiots can't stop, once the cops brought him in and basically said to his face were working on a case and he'd be charged any day, the zodiac coincidentally disappeared into the shadows.

I don't think I have a favorite.

One that always stuck with me though is Israel Keyes and his murder kits. It's quite an impressive degree of preparation. And for some reason, I also have always been fascinated with the concept of burying stuff around for later retrieval. It's like marking your territory, there is something very comforting about it.
