I main demoman. Picking a class that you want to stick with is hard, since all of the classes are enjoyable, but finding one that you want to stick with us a hard choice. I respect this thread, since it helps players who haven’t picked a main yet consider picking one! Mostly demo main but I'm a great medic too. I'd say these 2 classes are really centred around team play because they both support the team. I'm a demo main but I have decent hours with Soldier and I'm looking to improve my Scout too. I've also been derusting my Sniper aim. It's nice doing well enough again with a class I used to do really well with, practically maining it at one point, but thanks to an extended break I lost all the skill and prediction skills. I'm a demo main, started playing around the beginning of 2020 and the bot invasion, but I was an idiot and only played demo, so I couldn't get good at other classes while I had the opportunity, but recently after hitting 1200 hours, decided to try and branch out more, can say that I'm a more competent demo/scout main (my aim still sucks balls, and i can't do reaction airblasts on soldiers consistently, but hey, at least i realized my mistake and actually put an effort into trying to branch out more). I am very much a demoman main, but scout and medic are definitely my "seconds" in terms of classes I sink the most time in/main. I am a demo main with a little bit of spy. I just love the alternative gameplay that the ski mask french man offers, and, I'm really pleased while seeing those massive numbers after clicking on people's backs. I mained scout for half of my tf2 hours, now I play soldier, demo and heavy, as I like the skillset they need and give you. When you learn those classes along with scout your core tf2 experience will be better as you will understand your opponent. I main demo, and I noticed something while playing him and then playing other classes. As demo I saw the enemy's mistake and weaknesses and knew how to counter them, when I pick a class I try to not to do any mistakes and having almost no weaknesses. As an example Engineer, as demo its easy to kill niggers so I try to not place my sentrys in spots where demos or spys can destroy my sentry so easy. Or Solider, I use the direct hit cuz I hit direct pipes anyway and direct hit rockets deal more damage.
@malleusmaleficarum You should make a thread looking back at Gun Mettle. You should call it "A Look back on Gun Mettle." So many weapons were changed nerfed/buffed back then and take a look at how the overall gameplay has changed since then.
I used to main Pyro and Spy. But both of those were really frustrating to play as because of just how vulnerable you are. So I branched out and now am an all-classer. (Except Sniper cuz I suck) I am a demo main mostly because I get a high off the DAMAGE that demo puts out, it never gets old, and demonight is fun as well, but I have a little less than 4000 hours in tf2 and am pretty well rounded in every class to where I can hold my own, with my best classes being Demo, Medic, Sniper; and my worst being Scout, Spy, Soldier (but not to say I am "bad" at those three, they just need the most improvement)
