Idk if they're my favorite but I kind of like Kelpies. I find their name funny and people make pretty metal art of them:

Kinda like the Baku, but at this point we're really close to mythology rather than "cryptids":

I was going to post something like Tsuchinokos or Kappas, since they qualify more for a cryptid, but i'd rather choose manticores, regardless if they qualify or not. They have to be my/one of my favourite/s:

I'd have both a Baku and Manticore as pets.

I'm a fan of the classic American cryptids like Bigfoot and Skinwalker tales. The wendigo genuinely creeps me out too.

I'm kind of torn though because Japanese mythology has tons of weird, fucked-up cryptids, ghosts, and other entities. It makes me wonder why they developed such a strong martial culture despite being pretty much completely isolated on an island their entire history... the Chinese or Koreans never got as hardcore when it comes to killing things like Japan.

ur mom lol

But seriously, probably the wechuge. Mainly because it's like the wendigo but hasn't been done to death in popular media.

Tsuchinoko: A snake that is fatter in the middle than it is at both ends. Some versions of Tsuchinoko are regular snakes aside from that, while others are said to enjoy drinking alcohol and lying.

The Carbuncle. A mythical creature popularized in early 1900s Chile. Described as a dog-like, cat-like animal having a shining red gem on it's forehead and containing a reflective mirror to disappear. The name "Carbunculo" means "little coal" because the forehead gem shines like hot coal, though some claimed it's just a garnet gem. Local miners claimed if you caught it, you would acquire great riches.

How the Japanese learned of this local legend in the 1980s and used it to design a creature of the same name in a now-popular video game franchise still baffles me.

On a side note, because we can't have nice things:

Jersey Devil is tough to beat. Mothman is top tier too, despite it probably just being a big owl that terrorized drunken hillbillies.

However, I have to give the number one spot to the Mongolian death worm because it's basically one of the monsters from Tremors but it can also shoot electricity for some reason.
