I think I was still in preschool at the time, but the day after the towers hit my mom was home from work for the rest of that week. I knew something was up even then because my mom worked Monday-Saturday most weeks at the time and it hadn't clicked in my head why that happened until a decade later. I have a good chunk of extended family in the NYC/North Jersey area who were affected by the fallout so she must have spent those days calling everyone to check in on them.

in hindsight we tried so hard to include ourselves among the affected.
There's a couple of defense contractors in northeastern Colorado and the entire school district tried to pretend that made us next in line for the terrorist target list.
It was pretty pathetic now that I think about it, entire schools locked down because local bureaucrats convinced themselves we were so crucial we were next in line.

IT WAS IN THE MORNING AND I WAS TERRIFIED

There you go. Everyone knew that we were immediately At War. Against whom was up for debate.

turned on the tv to watch something & saw the news flash about the first plane.thought 'wtf is this shit late night movie?' then the 2nd plane hit. ... oh this aint a fucking movie

I had the radio on, which is kind of hard to explain. Imagine Joe Rogan's podcasts (audio only) were like UFC pay per views. It had a start time. When you turn in, you're where it is live. Except they're on 24/7. You can just listen to them live.

It mentioned the breaking news, so I was able to turn on the Television, which is like a giant phone screen, playing a Tik Toks that never end, but there's only a few different ones and they are always on and live. Like the radio with pictures.

Anyway, hopefully you can understand what this was. I turned it on, was watching and got to see the second plane hit live. Which was kind of freaky because it was hard to really comprehend, did I just see that? Also the feeds were constantly switching to different cameras and they were not in sync. So it was confusing for the moments after. See plane and explosion. Then they switch the feed to a different helicopter and the second tower was perfectly fine. They were also clipping and showing the crash and other stuff in amongst the live feeds.

What I never understood was why didn't the people who were trapped in the buildings tie a bunch of bed sheets together and climb down? It seems really obvious. I don't know why no one did that. Or just quickly fashion together a wing suit or parachute. There was a literal plane in the building. Why not fly away to safety?

Which actually inspired by 9-11 children story which I have sold to Netflix.

It's about a young black trans women, who through their dysphoria never wanted to cut her hair. She eventually becomes the CEO of an employee own co-op company that is a billion dollar corporation that makes menstrual cups with it's headquarters in one of the towers. The planes hit! She and her fierce employee's rally around the damaged floors, saving people. Where she is met by fierce opposition by white man. Who refuse help from her because she's trans.

A strong lesbian fire fighter managed to brave through the fires while her white male colleges were too scared. She gets to the floor, but the path behind her is now blocked. Her and the main character fall in love as they try to find a way out of the situation and rescue more people.

After they find there's no way down, she lowers her hair out of the building and everyone climbs down to safety. This angers the useless white men. She offer's them the chance to climb down and they re refuse. So she ties her hair to the building, wraps it around her waste, and in a beautiful display that resembles Arial ribbon acrobatics, she lowers herself down. Yet when she's halfway down, a white man cuts her hair from the building and yelling, "you'll never be a woman."

Yet, this just causes her hair to balloon out like a giant parachute, she is graceful and fierce as her hair causes her to gentle glide to the ground. Where she yells, "I am a woman, hear me roar." Where her now lesbian love interest replies, "and a heckin' cute one at that."

Then the tower collapses in the background as symbolism to her bottom surgery. She later becomes President of America and causes peace in the Middle East by invading Israel.

It's a powerful story that will save lives.

I was at work and suddenly my Muslim co-worker grew a long black beard and started shooting in the air with an AK-47 and yelling "Allaakbar"" and "Inshalla!". I thought this was because of some weird Muslim holiday and I didn't want him to think of me being ignorant so started too shooting in the air with an AK-47 and yelling. Immediatelly the cops showed up so we had to bail and started running. All I remember is running away. When I found a safe place I fell asleep bc I was very exhausted of all the running. When I woke up I found out I was in Afghanistan. Some bearded dudes showed up and asked me if I wanna join their gang. So I joined. We fought against the big Satan America and I was allowed to shoot with rocket launchers which was pretty cool. I also got married to 7 Muslim women and we had 42 kids together. Now I am on the run bc I don't want to pay child support. The CIA is still searching for me but thanks to @Null I found a new place to hide.

9/11 changed my life forever.

9/11? It reminds me of that tragedy.

I walked through blood and bones in the streets of Manhattan trying to find my brother. He was in northern Canada.

i came home from school, the tv in the living room was on as it usually was , i saw buildings in Burguerland burning. Thought absolutely nothing of it and then went on with my day.
