A lot of folks on this board should be glad for this. Getting Chris easily committed for purposes of humor would be a dangerous double-edged sword.

Well, the fact that Chris can call himself a hermaphrodite without knowing what it's all about just speaks volumes. Chris' lack of understanding of stuff like that could imply he has no idea what he is getting himself into, and he may not be able to calculate the outcome of his actions. I mean, he upload photos of his mutilated crotch and thought he was going to be famous and accepted by all women of all nationalities, straight, gay, or bi. That is both a theory of mind defect and an inability to understand far reaching concepts. One of these days, someone like a disguised sweetheart could seriously cross the line with Chris for money or in the name of trolling. No one has gotten Chris seriously injured yet, but it could happen.

As @sikotik notes, not necessarily suicide. There are various laws regarding civil involuntary commitment, and a plain reading of them would lead you to believe that it wouldn't be too hard to get fatty institutionalized.

But in practice, the standards are ridiculously high. It'd pretty much take an IRL busybody in Charlottesville, with probably a lawyer and/or a private investigator, to dredge up the necessary evidence and argue the technicalities to get Chris locked up.

Same thing for getting him declared a ward of the state or mentally incompetent or put into a group home.

Actually, what are the chances he might at the very least threaten to commit suicide after Barb dies? If he gets overdramatic and/or incoherent about it, that might be enought to put him in a mental hospital.

Marvin, I have two questions for you:
1. Has Chris ever tried to scam money off you
2. Do you think he will burn his bridges by being too needy after Barb's death?
I could picture some poor saint that would reluctantly let Chris act as their shadow for a few weeks, but he would eventually over stay his welcome.

Chris is delusional and narcissistic, sure. But emphasis on "delusional". He's also an extremely sad and lonely person. We're talking about somebody who on top of being autistic is severely mentally ill. Shit like Sonichu, fucked as it is to consider, is in a lot of ways this person trying to share what's happening inside his head with the outside world because he has no idea how else to do it. I don't know if any of the mental health people who've examined Chris have seen Sonichu, but if they did I have a strong feeling they would probably be "concerned", to say the least. It's the work of a goddamn schizophrenic. Maybe that's me talking out my ass, but I know enough about Chris to know the guy ain't exactly living in the same world as the rest of us.

Chris is perfectly capable of hurting himself, it's naive as shit to say otherwise

Committing suicide means that you are willingly trying to take your own life. I can totally see Chris killing himself out of stupidity like the pierced taint, but I seriously find it hard to believe that he will kill himself out of depression or because nobody likes him.

Chris is a resilient motherfucker, we all gotta give him that. Guy's been living in a kind of David Lynch-esque hell since he graduated high school and somehow manages to get himself out of bed in the morning (to go sit right back down on the couch, of course)

I don't think Chris really desires the same kinds of things most people do. He doesn't really give a shit about money so long as he has enough for fast food and toys, he's not really concerned at all about social status of any kind, etc. He wants a boyfriend free girl to mother him, vidya games, cheeseburgers, and that's pretty much it as far as I can tell. Still, since I heard the "mutilating his own taint" thing I can't escape the notion that he's actually psychotic or something and that if he has one particularly bad day he could easily end up making decisions he won't be able to take back. Ya know, like the entire past 10 years of his life

Well, I don't talk to Chris. But I haven't really observed Chris try to scam anyone out of money, necessarily. I think he's tried to borrow money from people before. Maybe once.

The biggest reason Chris doesn't do this more often is because Chris almost never seriously needs money.

I can't think of many post-Barb scenarios that would ruin any of Chris' relationships with anyone.

A (pretty unlikely one) would be if Barb died, but then Chris somehow landed perfectly on his feet. Like if Barb somehow signed away the house to Chris before she died, ditched all her debt, and Chris just moved into a comfortable financial existence without her. Even then, he's still got his car payments, so even with perfect execution, there's still a pretty low ceiling for him.

The reason I bring up his finances, is that if Chris is genuinely suffering from hardship, there's no way he's going to overstay his welcome with anyone. This isn't predicated on what he's telling people, but rather just the stress itself will sharply change how he acts. There's a stark difference in Chris between when he's genuinely stressed and when he's being a blubbery baby. Whoever he's talking to can easily tell the difference.

There's no way they'd tell him to fuck off if he was genuinely suffering from hardship after his mother's death. It's slightly more likely they'd tell him to fuck off if he was financially comfortable, but even then I consider that to be a long shot.

Enormous self-importance, no grasp of complex concepts, theory of mind defects... we don't put people like that in a facility here in America, we let them run for President instead.

What if a bunch of documentary filmmakers move to Virginia en masse and elect a new legislature that will make it easier to commit funny internet people to group homes? I call it... the Ween State Project.
 
So many people apparently think this is England in the 1800s or America in the 1930s. Yanks do everything they can to keep the mostly benign crazies out of institutions because it costs taxpayers money to take care of them. Also something something freedom something. There are homeless schizophrenics in every major US city who would be picked up and locked up before the gov would come for Chris. Land of the free, home of the speds. Why do you think the politics currently are the way they are?
