For me I don't really know if it is so much of how long until Barb dies but how long until she has a severe health complication and is put into a home. She may live for another three-four years but independently? I'm not so sure about that. That being said these days I'm fairly certain Chris will find a cheap apartment in bumfuck Virginia and start his own hoard of expired food and feces.

I don't think Barb will ever be put into a home, she and CWC are too dependant on each other. You only need to see how upset Chris was at being separated when they were arrested, or when Barb had the sleep apnea test and CWC was all alone in the house for one night.

She doesn't look drastically unhealthy, but the weight loss is dramatic and goes way beyond "Welp, can't afford as many Big Macs as she used to."
Lipotrophy (fat death or) is quite common after a certain age, say 65 or so, the process actually starts at around age 45 or so and becomes drastic within the next two decades.
Although Barb has lost weight and looks like a "windows to hell" type now, her skin still looks good for her age, and we have not heard of Chris bitching on facebook about how his mother takes a ride in an ambulance to the hos-spit-ul every few months. I would say that Barb has like 2-7 years at the most left.

Doesn't Chris have a difficult time with these things? If I recall (using cwciki), he can't tell a situation like this. He thought Bob was going to get better and never complained until he ended up dying the way he did.

Would Chris end up the same way, not realizing Barb is dealing with something until she's already close to being gone?

Yes, but Barb still seems to have enough competence left to beg for money with Chris. I am sure she can tell him soemthing like, "hurry up dummy, my hearts about to give out" or "I am not feeling well, call an ambulance".

And thus Chris is forever stuck between being unable to spend a night by himself without shitting his pants, and the increased Heart Stress and pressures of being the only care provider and conversational partner of deteriorating parent.

Another problem with a nursing home, is that the house would have to be sold and Chris would have to... Welp, sleep on a couch in Barbs room? Build himself a shelter out of LEGOs?

I suspect you're right, but it does raise some very uncomfortable questions. There are certain, ehm... Functions that are best done by professionals. Barb isn't there yet, but eventually she'll need stuff like helping her with showers and diapers.

Egads, I don't know which scenario would be best for my stress levels and sanity:

Chris posting on Facebook about the bath and diaper change he just did (and how Cole should come and do it for him) or Chris merrily sperging around Cville with two ponies in his purse, while Barb is sitting stewing in her own filth and a diaper last changed three days ago.

Would Chris end up the same way, not realizing Barb is dealing with something until she's already close to being gone?

It could go both ways. Chris isn't a complete retard. He's able to care for his pets, and just rescued a handicapped kitten.

On the other hand, he's got very well developed powers of displacing uncomfortable situations and ignoring them.

There has already been examples of Chris pooh-poohing some serious health issues with Barb (some sort of parasite I seem to recall.)

I can easily imagine a scenario where Barb kicked the bucked in her sleep, and lies dead in her room for 2-3 days with Chris going. "Welp, guess Mom just isn't feeling sociable!" And throwing himself at some vidya instead.

What a morbid question....but I'll bite.

I think the crux of the matter will be the CWC :tugboat: After Bob died, it got quite a boost and if the same happens when Barb dies, then I can see CWC staying afloat, at least until something goes wrong.

If I was to give advice to CWC, I would say that once the estate was settled(and I'm sure that'll be a mess) that they should leave Ruckersville. CWC has said repeatedly how much they miss living in Midlothian, so they should move back. Find a nice one bedroom apartment(with room for LEGO) and start afresh.

Or if they can't/won't leave: clean the house, get rid of the rubbish, and start renting rooms. CWC is going to be very very lonely, and I think renting rooms could be super helpful to their longterm mental and emotional wellbeing.

They? Their? Chris is one person, you know.

Not that Barb necessarily is trying to rope her in to take care of Chris after she's gone, but the sight of a devastated man child trying to deal with the practicalities of a death in the family (and possibly the Facebook asspats included) could be enough to motivate her.

Anna doesn't really care about Chris. It's only virtue signaling.

The only thing that will happen to Chris when Barb croaks is he will be locked up in either the loony bin or in prison for the rest of his miserable existence.

We all know that he won't be able to keep the house for obvious reasons.
"I know I shud really git da rest ov da mortgage payed off but dey had those $300 Lego sets I saw at Toys 'R Us de udder day wus just too damn hard ta resist, plus it had dat MUCH REQUIRED SpongeBob minifig I'd been wantin' fer so long..."

In all honesty I believe this will be the point where he'll fail at for filling an independent life for himself and probably get put into an asylum.
That or FOX is going to give him his own reality TV show and he'll be richer then all of us put together
'I'm An Autist... Get Me Out Of Here!'

He's called ambulances for Barb before. It was not mentioned publicly.

Yeah, for the moment, I do believe this is the case. Or at the very least, it was the case for awhile after Bob died.

The problem is, as Barb gets older, what happens if her mind starts to flake? Ideally she'd start to realize her limitations, due to her age, and try to move herself into some sort of care facility.

But that might not happen. That's when things get sketchy.

Anybody who still have doubts about this can hear this: Anna always conveniently disappears when Chris actually needs help. For example, when his house burned down, no sign of Anna. And now that Chris is knee-deep in poverty and begging for money, Anna has not been seen since.

...does that sound like a friend to you? Anna is a fucking sponge trying to leech off of Chris' E-Fame. Now let us never mention her again, and leave her in the trash where she belongs.

We gotta find a cleaning crew to brave right in there. God bless their smelly souls.
Would it be that bad though? A lot of the hoard was destroyed in the fire, and the house was renovated afterwards, so whilst it will be bad, I don't think it will be as bad as something you would see in an episode of Hoarders.

I could be very wrong though.
