What Should We HATE?

If this week has taught me anything, it’s that I’m not a big enough hater. Damn. Kendrick Lamar really does NOT like Drake. And to be honest, I’m here for all of it.

But before assuming I’m here to chime in on the rap beef–I’m not Black, so not only would it be out of pocket to comment on a lot of the sub-contexts present in the feud, as a guest in their house, it’s my job to listen more than speak on the issue–I’m here to actually ruminate on the question: what should we hate?

If you are a Christian, then your natural reaction could be that we should hate nothing. We are to love. Love our neighbors. Love our God. Love our enemies.

Fair enough.

But hate isn’t necessarily the opposite of love. Apathy seems more apropos. For instance, if love is an action verb, apathy often stands in love’s way–in helping the poor, in aiding the afflicted, in working toward ending war, and poverty, and hunger. Speaking of these things, shouldn’t we hate them? Shouldn’t we hate war? Shouldn’t we hate poverty? Shouldn’t we hate that so many go hungry?

In America, as we watch swaths of Christians drag Christ’s name through the mud with their anti-woman, anti-LGBTQ, and anti-DEI legislation, are we also not supposed to feel some kind of hate? A hate that despises the fact that people will suffer under their fascistic draconian laws?

Often–and this has been true for me, so take it for what it is–the key is to not witness our hatred bleed into a hatred for the person themself. We must separate the two. If our hatred for the suffering caused by victimizers turns into hatred for others, for example, we risk becoming the monster in the mirror (to riff off Nietzsche).

Now, I’m not here to universally tell victims not to hate their victimizers. That’s not my place. At all. I just caution that if we hold onto hatred for our fellow human, there are consequences–natural, yet oftentimes unforeseen consequences. Whether that’s fair or not, it is what it is.

So, I suppose the main takeaway is this: find balance. Instead of pitting hate and love against each other, perhaps we need to realize we all are a bit of both. And perhaps that’s exactly how it should be. We hate racism because we love our Black family and friends. We hate homophobia because we love LGBTQ+ folks. We hate war because we love peace. We hate misogyny because we love women. And so on…

The question is what do we do with our love and hate? Do we take action for the betterment of others, or do we harbor ill will for others? I challenge more Christians to do the former, and repent of the latter.

Peace.

You should hate that which threatens which you love. The Bible isn't some peaceful hippie book where Jesus sings songs about NO VIOLENCE MAAAN. As Christ himself said, he came with a sword.

I'm just glad Kendrick said the part about Drake being a Pedo out loud, after most people were only willing, at best, to make inuendos about it. Blacks seem to have a hard time calling out other blacks for that shit, for some reason.
Drake is Jewish. Also, seeing this beef unfold has made me realize that black people hate mixed race/lightskin blacks more than white people.

You should hate evil. And use hate as a positive thing - it should inspire you to be better, to remove evil and sources of evil. Hate the sin, hate the degeneration of th world and try to do what you can to make it better.

Righteous anger is not a sin. Anger is a passion that moves the will to justice

Whoever is doing their PR must be masterful. The NPCs are really invested in this story, and I have no idea why.
It's plain you didn't listen to any of the songs. This is blowing up in the culture wars because Kendrick Lamar is calling out drake as a pedophile, a deadbeat who refuses to acknowledge his children until the public finds out, and accuses Drake of being an enforcer for pedowood. It's the first bit of real music anyone has heard since Oliver Anthony called out epstein island. You may not be interested but don't pretend it is meaningless.

I don't get rap battles or beefs or whatever they're called. It just comes across to me as men writing poems about men they dislike and then putting those poems in front of stolen beats. Why waste the time and energy just to say "that guy over there sucks"? Just concentrate on your stuff and ignore the other guy like adults do.

I have not paid any attention to this stupid beef, but I would not be shocked if it was entirely marketing. However after hearing that Kendrick Lamar is calling Drake a pedophile maybe that isn't the case...

So why even mention this negroid nonsense? It's a big red flag telling me you're an idiot and your article will be a bunch of silly shit about Christians doing Christianity wrong and Jesus really being a democratic socialist/authoritarian communist/homosexual/woman.

In America, as we watch swaths of Christians drag Christ’s name through the mud with their anti-woman, anti-LGBTQ, and anti-DEI legislation, are we also not supposed to feel some kind of hate? A hate that despises the fact that people will suffer under their fascistic draconian laws?

I, for one, can't wait until King Jesus returns and tells these people what's what. Maybe he'll tell me to give into mass-media and cultural decadence, but I tend to doubt it.

At what point do you goodthinkers start rounding up the badthinkers? And do we get mass executions or reeducation camps? Basically, Stalin or Pol Pot? Or do the badthinkers maybe just get starved to death en masse, like the Holodomor or Mao?

So let me get this straight...if I think someone's a pedophile and a deadbeat dad, and I'm a famous person with a huge platform, the right way to address it is not by making an accusation directly, but instead by making several other less-severe diss tracks about bullshit, and then wrap up my accusations in wordplay and amidst a bunch of other shit that doesn't matter while puffing out your chest?

Kendrick Lamar's good at winning Grammies, why not use the mic there to say it loud and clear?

This isn't about making an accusation or making sure a criminal and deadbeat gets what he deserves. It's about two men's egos, and Lamar only cares about these profoundly immoral acts inasmuch as they allow him to get more publicity and money.

Who is we? I doubt the author is a Christian.

So you are not following the Christian teachings of love your enemies and forgive those who wronged you.

the right way to address it is not by making an accusation directly,
He literally calls Drake out by name and calls him a pedophile directly

Lyrics from "Not like Us":

Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young
You better not ever go to cell block one
To any bitch that talk to him and they in love
Just make sure you hide your lil' sister from him

They tell me Chubbs the only one that get your hand-me-downs
And Party at the party, playin' with his nose now
And Baka got a weird case, why is he around?
Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles

Wop, wop, wop, wop, wop, Dot, fuck 'em up
Wop, wop, wop, wop, wop, I'ma do my stuff
Why you trollin' like a bitch? Ain't you tired?
Tryna strike a chord and it's probably A-Minor (plus he sung the chord in A-minor)

but instead by making several other less-severe diss tracks about bullshit, and then wrap up my accusations in wordplay and amidst a bunch of other shit that doesn't matter while puffing out your chest?
Unironically yes. Get all of the eyes of the public on you, especially the people that look up to said pedo and when they are paying attention then you air out the truth. All of this stuff about Drake is well documented and out there in the public but it gets lost in the news cycle.

Drake molests a teenager onstage in 2010:

One of the people in Drake's entourage is a convicted woman-beater and human trafficker:

Drake grooms high-school age girls

Kendrick Lamar is doing God's work and the world is better for him putting this back into the public consciousness
